Question, if you guys remember how long did the side-effects take to show up?
I know things like weight gain wouldn't be instant but what about nausea, dizziness etc...first day, first few or later on? I've started today and wondering how things will go.
i never got any nausea, dizziness, etc (nothing physically noticable). weight gain wasn't anything noticeable..i've put on a bit since leaving school caus i'm doing less excersise than i was, but its not like i put a heap on while taking it
not everyone gets side-effects, and if they do they most likely wont get more than a couple over the whole time they're taking it

hey just a question. my gf had just had her normal pill period about 15 days ago, and only now, eg last nite, she had noticed a bit of brownish blood discharge? i was wondering what that was, and thinking about the whole implantation bleeding and pregnancy it has got me worried. any idea on what that represents. should b noted that she takes her pill everyday, always around the same time, however lately she had been taking it 15 mins later for a week and on saturday about an hour earlier? would that make her have a slight breakthrouh bleed?

we use condoms during sex, however every now and then, prob only a handful of times we dont start out using a condom, but end up putting one on during climax. BOS any help, this place has been a great resource for information.

I wouldn't say its anything to worry about. Every now and again some girls bleed a little between their periods. If its not heavy, she's not in pain, and it doesn't cotinue for more than a day, I'd say its normal.

This has probably already been addressed, but:
going on the pill does not stop your period. You take 'sugar pills' when it's due so you have it, otherwise you may end up infertile or something.

Girls, if you aren't sure about the pill, *ask your doctor*. It isn't embarrassing, and you need to know this stuff if you consider going on it!

well it pretty much happened last nite, she felt a slight discharge on friday nite. and on saturday nite she felt a bit of brown blood, only a little bit, and apparently its continued today. she didnt seem to be in pain saturday, im not sure about today tho. whats really worried me and her is the whole implantation bleeding aspect. i mean we have been safe, safer than we were, eg now we wear condoms during climax, as opposed to a year ago when i would just pull out, and both times she was on the pill. she has never skipped a pill, however her times have varied lately, eg 15 mins late or like saturday morning 1 hour early.

its just really worrying as its been 15 days since her period, or sugar pill withdrawal, and this has come out of nowhere. i heard implantation bleeding is very light, and either brownish or pinkish, this is light and brown, however from my understanding if you get your withdrawal period on the pill and you bleed it is highly unlikely , very unlikely to be pregnant as that is a sign of not being pregnant? is that correct. Thanks guys

Wow, graphic. Explain these symptoms to a doctor, they're way more reliable than any response you'll get from here.

she has been on it since june/july of 2007, plus she has been on it every year with a month or 2 break usually, but has been using it since june without a break

If you're so worried do a pregnancy test. Otherwise, wait it out. It should stop after her next period.

It happens sometimes.

This is not 'implantation bleeding'.

This is totally normal. No pill is always 100% at stopping spotting, which is essentially what this is.

Taking a pill 15 minutes late has NO effect on it. She could take it 5 hours late and she still should be fine (though I wouldn't recommend it). Her body isn't that efficient.

Wrong. There is no evidence to suggest that being on the pill indefinitely has a chance of making you infertile.

It's also worth mentioning that periods during pill use, when taking the inactive ones, aren't real periods. They're withdrawal bleeds.

I have made my recommendation to the council that this thread is NOT male-friendly.

Though I might add that whilst on the pill women are attracted to people with similar immune systems, rather than the opposite. An interesting quirk.

I watched a show with that Dr Robert guy a few years ago that was all about that stuff, how people with complementary immunities are attracted. It was really quite interesting. He got 5 women to wear a tshirt to bed for a week without washing the shirt, then got 5 guys to smell the shirts and rate them in order of most attractive scent to least. Then he showed how the women the men were most attracted to had different genetic immunities.

Kinda takes the fun out of romance, doesn't it?

Going on the pill doesnt make you infertile, it just takes noramlly a few months before the hormones are back to normal and you canfall preganant then. But you can fall pregnant while being on the pill..its not fail safe....

Champ sammy...a girl at work was talking about how she's on that. It sounds rather good, not having to worry about takeing a tablet every night. Im gng to mention it to my specialist when I see her in a few weeks.

At the moment its been nearly 2 months since i had my last period, coz the specialist said to wait 2 months after the op to have a period until i saw her. It was good to start with but with the increasing hormones not being able to have a break has meant my boobs are so swollen and tender etc that I just want to have a period, which is not normally what i want..

I just wish guys could go through what us chicks go through...then they wouldnt complain!

Yesss! I've skipped 2 periods because of holidays and my boobies are doing the same thing.

Doesn't really bother me. Being able to skip periods is so convenient.

Sure is good when you can skip it, but when they are so sore and you feel lumps you kinda panic and think could it be the big c..whcih of course in young women is not that common but as we've seen inKylie and BelindaEmmet it can strike young.

Or its not good when you wan to sleep on your stomach but you cant coz it hurts...

who here by the ways sleeps without a bra?I do most of the time...especially around the time of my period when the boobs are tender lol....Also is it normal for one nipple to kinda like invert while the other one is normal?Orto have like pimply like skin around the niple>
