I saw it at my year 12 sleep over, pirated copy so the sound was quiet and there were some beeps who wouldnt shut up

Anyhow, I thought it was pretty good considering it was a Hillary Duff movie (not the biggest fan of her acting), however the plot line wasnt good enough to make me want to watch it a second time while being able to hear all of it. I got the gist of it, and it wasnt that great.

i didn't like it that much. it dragged on, was too corny, story was kinda dumb, the ending was kinda crap, too. <3'd carson tho. i normally like hilary duff movies.. a cinderella story & raise your voice were heaps better (maybe cos of chad & oliver but still!)

not seeing it for these reasons

1. the title

2. hilary duff

3. the probable plot

4. wtf.

superficial yes, but I doubt the movie will make any depth either.

great! a place to vent my spleen.

firstly, i have no problem with teeny bopper badly acted films. that wasn't my issue. neither do i have a problem with romcoms - in fact, for the most part, i love them. hilary duff, meh, i prefer her to lindsay but really that's about it. she's not awful but i don't love her either.

HOWEVER. i actually thought it was a terrible movie for several reasons. it was offensive and had very questionable ethics.

the offense primarily lies in the depiction of carson. yeah, he's shallow in real life, but who cares? in this film the only representation of homosexuals is of a completely superficial fag. funny? ok, what about a movie where the only representation of black people is of a servant or the guy who just says "man", "shit" or "that is whacked"? see what i mean?

there was also the fact that i thought it was completely dirty and wrong that the daughter impersonated a man for her mother, and that the mother impersonated her daughter when talking to said daughter's boyfriend-of-sorts.

but my MAIN problem lay in the representation of hilary's character. IMO she was a complete brat. waa waa waa, i want things my way! i always accommodate for you and you never understand!! this whinginess was not only not addressed by the film, but actually supported. the worst thing of all was when hilary managed to blame her mother for the scheme that SHE created. the message it's sending out is that it is great and admirable to be a self-absorbed teenager who refuses to take the blame. i think that is incredibly wrong.

add the fact that hilary ruined the restaurant with water damage (something that would cost many thousands of dollars) without a hint of remorse but "oh yay, we should be CIA agents"...for such a dumb thing...and the fact that she totally ruined someone's wedding without saying sorry and actually had the PRESUMPTION to tell a grown man that she knew who his soulmate was without him meeting her...

i'm sorry, but this film wasn't just bad. it was abhorrent.

It doesn't need depth, it fits the criteria for a decent tween movie and not directed at the more mature audiences.

hahaha GO JEBBIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

although yes...*tear*....NO MORE SCHOOL...i can hardly believe it.

*coughs* back on "The perfect man"...i DO like a lot of movies, but in most of them, such annoying behaviour usually is condemned (to a certain extent). i love clueless, for example - and cher (who is annoying but adorably so) is sent up rather than completely endorsed. hilary, on the other hand, was definitely not sent up...she was shown as a proper character. it's that fine line difference i guess.

carson was funny for the most part - i accept that. oh...and the guy was pretty nice, especially with that drawing!! i thought that bit was really sweet.

lol and i do have a sense of humour...but thinking back, i may have just been in a bad mood when i saw the film. i reckon we should've watched wedding crashers instead (now THAT'S a pretty funny movie that doesn't take itself seriously, lol).

I thought the drawing was the cutest. Especially the double sided one. But the msn thing freaked me out like woah.

We did watch wedding crashers!! It was better then The perfect man, and I wasnt the biggest fan of Wedding Crashers (I thought it was ok but there was too much hype so I felt severely let down, although it did have Will Ferrel, one of my favourite actors, in it! Yay!)

Anyways the point of the story is I would have prefered seeing Dukes of Hazard over The Perfect Man. Or wasnt that an option? I forget.. Hmm anyways, pretty sure Im on the net too late considering its a Saturday Night! Hmm wonder where Jenny is... Maybe with her future husband!! Haha I'll leave that at that.

p.s. I was tempted to put up the photo of you me and doddles. You're just lucky I had second thoughts :p

lolz jebbie you crack me up.

i watched the beginning and end of wedding crashers (fell asleep). i reckon we should have watched it first (that's what i meant!) so i could've seen the whole thing!!

omg tho...will ferrell..."MA! MEATLOAF!!! FUCK!!" hahahahaha i was killing myself laughing.

the msn thing on perfect man was just creepy. lol. i find being a fake person really weird to sustain for a single conversation, let alone for extended periods of time...especially being a male...i can't begin to imagine flirting with my mother as a fake guy.
