Do you remember Matt Le Tissier? The guy didn't score a lot of goals, but almost each and every strike he did score was magic. Having said that I'd have RVN over him anyday. More goals=more wins.

Matt Le Tissier was a legend, what was he like 100kg? he always looked like he just got off the drink with his lanky face ...
haha yeah his goals were gold, he single handedly saved southamptons ass from regulation so many times ...

Hell yeah. The man is a hero. An overweight, ugly, beer drinking genius. That juggling goal... It was the biggest reason that I bought the Premiership Best goals DVD, just to see that. The man has three goals in the top 10. But they rated Becks halfway goal as the best, the most overrated goal of all time.

I reckon he gets a harsh rap. Yeah, all his goals are in the box but he places himself better than other strikers to take them shots. And he squanders very little chances. He was a crucial player a few years back not only for his goals but the role he played in holding the ball up for the midfield and his striking partner. He scored 20-30 goals a year but made another 10. His form since last year has taken a tumble somewhat, but the rap the guy gives him in that article was not completely fair.

Hehe, Mourinho and Wenger should take it to the boxing ring:

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has threatened to continue the war with Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger if he does not stop his verbal attacks on the Blues.

Before last weekend's Premiership fixtures, Wenger suggested Chelsea's sudden dip in form after dropping points at Everton and losing in the Carling Cup against Charlton gave their challengers some hope.

The Blues beat Blackburn that weekend, with Mourinho then labelling Wenger a 'voyeur' for constantly interfering in Chelsea's affairs. The Portuguese manager also suggested the Frenchman wanted his job at Stamford Bridge.

Wenger hit back before the Blues' loss to Real Betis on Tuesday (Wednesday morning AEDT), revealing he would explore legal action against Mourinho for his personal attack.

Mourinho has now stated he wishes for this war to end, but if it doesn't, he is ready for the fight.

"First of all if my comments were very strong, I have to accept that his next comments will be very strong," Mourinho was quoted as saying by ESPN.

"I have to accept that."

"But at Stamford Bridge, we have a file of quotes from Mr Wenger about Chelsea football club in the last 12 months - it is not a file of five pages."

"It is a file of 120 pages so we have a very strong reaction. My objective is that it is enough."

"He has talked enough about us including some very strange things about Chelsea Football Club. We have a very strong answer."

"I accept the next answer being strong but it is time to stop because if he doesn't stop, we are there. We are in the fight."

Oh, and as much as I love you guys I had been on this thread way too long today considering I have an exam tomorrow. Seeya!

Now that would really suck. LoL

About Roy Keane though, hez got every right to criticise. Especially against Rio, hez just been too poor lately. Hope that'll do him some good tonight, and in time fo the big game against the Cuntz.

anyone seen the bergkamp goal that came 2nd? i rated that as the best. fucken amazing skills.

shame he's so over the hill these days :) dunno why wenger doesnt play van persie.

as for the wenger-mourinho battle. as much as i dont like arsene wenger, mourinho is such an incredibly classless cunt he makes alex ferguson look like princess di in comparison.

gawd i hope chelsea blow their lead somehow.

Paragon - Ballack's contract with Bayern ends once the Bundesliga finishes next year I think (before the WC). If Bayern realise that he wants to go (or if he realises by then), I'd say they may try and sell him in the January transfer window so that he doesn't go for free. Expect Man Utd and Barca to be the leading contenders.
I’m pretty sure he’ll head for the nearest exit come mid-next year. Cheers mate.

Mate I see your point, but if anybody wants to put a goal scoring hitman in my team, regardless of lacking natural attributes et al, I doubt I’d be declining such an offer.

Keane was right - but he should've taken down Fergie too

There was just one thing wrong with Roy Keane's brilliant MUTV rant, argues Rob Smyth - it didn't take Sir Alex Ferguson to task for what he's doing to Manchester United.

If Keane launches an attack on the Gaffe at this point in the season, it would definitely not set the tone anywhere near the United fans’ desirable level. If he does that, which he might, it would create too much of a distraction, and it’s definitely not something we need right now. The best time to do such a thing would be post-season.

As usual, it took Roy Keane to cut through the crap and deliver a damning and entirely valid verdict on the dramatic demise of Manchester United. In fact, there was only one problem with Keane's MUTV rant - it didn't go far enough. If Keane was truly uncensored, it would be fascinating to get his views on the influence of failure specialist Carlos Queiroz, who has neutered United's attacking elan. And what would really boost MUTV's dismal ratings would be Keane's views on his manager.

TV ratings aside, what the journalist lacked was the depth in terms of the info. He just pointed out what I already know.

Unsurprisingly, Keane's comments were vetoed by Ferguson. It is not the first time they have fallen out (there was a much-publicised contretemps in Portugal this summer) and the thawing of their relationship is symbolic of Ferguson's demise. Keane's values - the remorseless pursuit of excellence at all costs; the bristling intolerance of the bullshit and excuses of modern sport - have not changed. Ferguson's have. He has become resigned to and tolerant of a mediocrity that Keane cannot countenance.

Touché.

There is his record in the transfer market, with at least three [A] Klebersons for every Gabriel Heinze and the shocking failure to address the decline of a once-majestic midfield; the delegation of significant power to the ruinous and incessantly negative Queiroz, which has made United neither successful nor entertaining, despite Queiroz's belief-beggaring proclamation that: [C] "We are producing the most exciting, attacking football in the league".

[A] Like the wording, like the comparison.
Not arguments there.
[C] Eh?

Then there is the inexplicable persistence with a phalanx of incompetents. Like John O'Shea; once referred to as looking like a thin Peter Kay, now he just looks like Peter Kay. Like Alan Smith who, for all his admirable endeavour, has more chance of being the new Eminem than the new Roy Keane. Like Scholes, who has been rewarded for a season of sleepwalking with the captaincy. Like Ruud van Nistelrooy, who surrenders possession time after time after time and then falls over. Like Darren Fletcher, a teacher's pet in the McClair mould who is, at this stage of his career, simply not good enough.

Somewhat in agreement about O’Shea; Smith; and Ruud.
Strongly agree with the bits about Scoles; and Fletcher.

Now, if reports are to be believed, Ferguson is ready to bite off his purple nose to spite his face and let Keane go. If he does, it will be the final proof: Sir Alex Ferguson has demonstrably, irrefutably lost the plot.

Amen to that.

Some other bits flying around:

England defender Rio Ferdinand was one of the team-mates Keane singled out for criticism.

"Just because you are paid £120,000 ($285,500) a week and play well for 20 minutes against Tottenham, you think you are a superstar," said Keane.

"The younger players have been let down by some of the more experienced ones – they are not leading. There is a shortage of characters.

"It seems to be in this club that you have to play badly to be rewarded. Maybe that is what I should do when I come back – play badly."

I hope that Man Utd can fight back and at least win a trophy this year.

Keane is a champ. He's right about the team underperforming and he's right about needing to clear a few players out in January and post-season. We need to buy some better players, particularly in the midfield, starting with Ballack.

Fletcher should not be in the starting line-up. In fact, he should barely make it onto the bench.

It can't get any worse fo uz, our season iz officially in tatterz, unless we win against Chelsea on the weekend, which will be very unlikely, even fo the optimistic bunch. I just hope we don't get flogged again. Hard wordz fo a United fan, but I must accept the fact that we just ain't good enough at the moment. Fuck me, we're prob worse than Liverpool at the moment.

Can't argue with that LMF. But really, squads and management can be fixed in the space of a year or two (see Barca 2 years ago compared to now). Glazer is your real problem. If you don't win some stuff this season the debt you accumulate under Glazer will put you under Leedsesque pressure.

Leeds ain't a good example, Notts Forrest iz a better one. Can't do much about Glazer now, but I wouldn't think he would just leave uz to rot, if he doez he would be a dead man walkin.

Whatever the case, we just need to win.

Have you read his autobiography? Well you should, its a damn fine read (I've read it twice- more often than any English text). The setup for the Irish national team was disgraceful and still in disarray, Keane walking out of the team was in protest. McCarthy and co wouldnt fix things, so Keane left in protest. Maybe he could have done it another way but thats Keano for ya. Thats why you gotta love him. He didnt walk out of the team for personal gain or lack of loyalty- you would be hard pressed to find a more passionate Irishman. Many Irish fans agreed with what he did, and felt robbed by the management in charge that their best player would not be playing for them in Japan. Dignity? Its not a word you associate with Keano. He did best for his team, showed his passion. He didnt worry about cameras or sponsors or player agents or money- he wanted to win the match, get the best out of his team and not take any shit from Arse fags. Thats one reason why I love him.
I know the story and I know about the Irish management. If he chooses not to the play for HIS national side then that's HIS decision. But the fact that he criticises another for the same decision annoys me. I understand that the circumstances are different but in the end - neither are playing for their 'real' national team. So don't try and justify his comments. You'll only piss me off.

johnny_87 said:
You can't knock Keane for what he did. Like BJ_Bhoy said, Irish management (mismanagement) was a joke
Don't misconstrue my statements. I am NOT knocking Keane for his choice not to play for his national side - I am knocking his comments to Pat. Read the above comments. Point is the same.

Watch how Jimmy makes bets... it may have been painful, but at least he had a punt. He's got his for two weeks, dont he?
Jimmy can do whatever Jimmy wants to do. I dont give a damn. I'm not going to humiliate myself for a long duration over something as insignificant as whether or not Wenger will sue the 'Special One'. Jimmys bet was over an important match. Something big had to give.

Gotta be one of the most ridiculous looks going around in the EPL this season. He's in good company with Cisse and Abel Xavier.
All the talk about haircuts

Also - some of them do not deserve to be in the top 10:

Torres? Give me a break. The majority of my male friends sported mullets not too long ago and some still have it. I hate em - think they look horrible. But you cant say that he's in the top ten worst hair cuts in football this last decade.

Toda? Come on - his got some colour! Not the best but def not the worst!

And Cisse?? I think his haircut was class!! :D (although I'm a tad biased ;))

WHERES THE PINEAPPLE!

And this hairdo IS HIDEOUS

So is Xavier one

Who cares. When it comes down to it – he is supposed to score goals. All the Ruud slagging annoys me. His one of the few I like in the United team. As long as goals are scored. End of. Where they come from shouldn't worry SAF too much as long as they're on the score sheet and FOR his team.

Ruud:
Games: 186
Goals: 136

I think the figures stand for themselves.

Its not the same situation tho- Keane wouldnt have turned his back on Ireland and played for England to further his career and glory. Now personally, I dont resent Viera for his decision, and I dont believe that Keano places Viera's allegiance to a nation in his priority list. What he said was to intimidate the man, and by God did it work. Viera played like a cat, and Keano played a captains knock. Now, these comments werent racist, so whats the big deal? The cameras were there to hear the words. If you were playing under Keano as captain, you would lift under that performance. Man U need him back right now.

As for pissing you off- bring it on! :)
