It's just funny that last world cup, Aust only lost marginally by a 1-0 to Italy who went on to win the world cup; and now we get smashed by a team technically worse than Italy.

1. Problem with last night's game was that a) we were pressing Germany without the numbers in midfield, leaving Ozil effectively unmarked; b) we were playing our defence very high against a team with lots of fast, darting runners; c) b was compounded by the fact that Lucas Neill kept playing fuckers onside. To be clear, Moore was rubbish, but Neill was even worse.

Onto tonight:
$25 on Netherlands to be ahead at HT & FT @ 2.50
$5 on Japan/Cameroon draw @ 3.25

imo Cameroon will beat Japan
They probably will, but there's every chance Eto'o will be off colour/get sent off again/be let down by poor delivery, which would likely see the match fizzle out into a nil all draw.

Dude, four years have passed since then, Italy are quite shit now, definately worse than Germany. The point is Australia got dominated and the golden age of socceroos is over.

Now to focus on La Furia Roja

Germany has always performed consistently internationally but the game was so frustrating, Verbeek.... just can't believe australia played such an advanced defensive line/offside trap with Moore/Chipperfield vs Podolski/Klose. The ref was also a joke, the red card was very harsh - even the french commentary said so. We need divine intervention if we want to get out of groups.. the fact is we came into the game against Germany looking not to win which is a disgrace, Lucas Neil to come out and basically say Germany were more superior and basically saying we have no chance whatsoever basically killed the psyche factor for our team. If only Guus would come back. I hope we beat Ghana but really we don't have much of a chance since the humiliating defeat and Cahill out. I hope Harry Kewell can pull something out of the hat and Cahill to play a spectacular game against Serbia. Let's hope.

btw is Mesut Oezil actually even German. He looks Turkish.........
Yeah he is Turkish, so is Serdar Tasci, who was on the bench. There's also another 3 Turks in the Swiss squad. Even though Turkey couldn't make it to the finals, at least a few of their players did :D

Gotta split that honour with thomas muller, he was fantastic also
Okay that's true, he played pretty good, but that is expected of him after all.

---------------Culina----------------------
Emerton--------Kewell---------Bresciano

highly doubt aus will play with only 1 screening midfielder..

More to the point, highly doubt Aus will play 10 men.
And why would Carney play ahead of Chippers? Everybody's complaining about picking Moore after he's had no real game time. Carney's been injured for months and can't even start a game with his club when fit, while Chipperfield is still one of the best players in Switzerland despite his age.

haha just noticed that my original side only had 10 players, put grella/valeri in, so that they'll be two defensive midfielders

personally i don't watch much of the swiss or dutch leagues, but i think playing moore and chipperfield together is a liability.
