Did quite decently at the Camden Library sale. For a total of $4, I acquired;

John Kenneth Galbraith-The Culture of Contentment
Alexander Solzhenitsyn-The Gulag Archipelago
Jean-Paul Sartre-Nausea
Primo Levi-The Wrench
Susan Faludi-Backlash:The Undeclared War Against Women (Think Anne Summer's 'The End Of Equality', only written a decade earlier and focusing upon America.)
Luciano De Crescenzo-The History Of Greek Philosophy Volume Two: Socrates and Beyond.
John Cottingham-A History Of Western Philosophy IV: The Rationalists
R.S Woolhouse-A History Of Western Philosophy V; The Empiricists
Russell Braddon-Suez: Splitting of a Nation.

Veronica Guerin by Emily O'Reilly. Reasonably priced, along with staff discount as well.

*checks*

Well it's by Penguin Classics, translated by Mark Musa

yes I am interested in reading the other two in the set, eventually

Today was a glorious day for literary acquisition, even if I'd originally only intended to get the first two books listed; (Which I got in the insanity of Co-Op.) The others were second-hand.

Virginia Woolf-The Waves [Penguin Modern Classics]
W.B Yeats-The Poems (A good 900 pages.. Every poem he wrote, plus copious footnotes. :p)
Gunter Grass-The Tin Drum (Only seen the film, which was interesting in its own right, but the book is generally regarded as even better, and influential upon writers such as Salman Rushdie.)
Arthur Miller-The Crucible
George Orwell-Penguin Essays Of George Orwell
Maurice Keen-Penguin History Of Medieval Europe
George Elliot-Middlemarch
R. F Atkinson-Knowledge and Explanation in History: An Introduction To The Philosophy Of History
Robert Winston & Lori Oliwenstein-Superhuman

My backlist continues to rapidly expand.
:D

The wackiness of acquisition continues. Today, my local library had a rather limited sale, yet I still managed to find some decent History books..

Michael A.Hoffman-Egypt Before The Pharaohs.
Steven Runciman-Byzantine Civilisation.
Ed: Desmond Collins-The Origins of Europe: Four New Studies in Archaeology and History.

Will it ever cease?

Yeah, but through the wonders of careful shopping and taking advantage of second-hand bookshops, I manage to do so quite cheaply. The seven books I bought this week only cost $38, so not bad. Besides, doing the above would just be no fun.

Anyone else buying books at the moment?

MURAKAMI! :D

I wish he'd stayed with Harvill, so I could collect them all and make an excellent looking set.

um.. what do you think of Naomi Klein? One or two people have recommended "No Logo", though I'm not yet sure whether I should bump it up the list or whatever.

I have no idea :p I'll give it a go since you're another Murakami fan :) Also give Banana Yoshimoto's books a go.. they're like Murakami's but usually from a female (16-25) perspective, and more sentimental (maybe consequently).

Bought "Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason" by Helen Fielding today. Want to read it before the film comes out and I loved the first book and film.
