does anyone know a novel called the "never ending mountain"? our yr 3 teacher read it to us and it was the best thing ever. i'm pretty sure its not a kids book because it was of novel thickness. though, i can't find it on the net, and hence i can't find the author. so does this book exist? who is the author? have i got the name right? cheers.

I got Magician by Raymond E. Feist for Christmas.

Because I'm a fantasy reader, people find it strange that I haven't read this one yet.

Also got a $200 Borders gift card. ZOMGZOMGZOMG!

For Christmas I got the new Thomas Harris book, Hannibal Rising, the two books I was missing between The Belgariad and The Malloreon (David Eddings), Talon of the Silver Hawk by Feist, the 2nd book in The Death Gate Cycle by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman and a Tom Holt book, Falling Sideways. And a $50 Borders gift card.

Before Christmas I got Robin Hobb's The Farseer Trilogy and The Liveship Traders Trilogy

Finally completed my Hobb collection today with book 3 of the Liveship Traders.

omg, monstrous regiment is really good. probably one of my faves from him. thief of time is good too, havent finished it yet though.

Nice, yet more reason to rush along my reading of it. I've been meaning to get hold of it since discovering that the characters from The Truth (My fav discworld so far) get cameos in it, though ive since found others where they cameo, such as Going Postal, and somehow they're just not the same now that theyre not 'good guys'. Come on, all I want is one more scene of Otto combusting

Went to Borders today, got Anne McCaffrey's Damia's Children and (finally!) George R.R. Martin's A Feast for Crows. Already read it, but I was waiting for the edition that matches my other four books to come out.

Nice books, Jhakka!

How many times have I said that I need to stop spending money on books?
I got Robin Hobb's Tawny Man trilogy today, and Shaman's Crossing. I was given a boxed-signed-hardcover limited edition of this for Christmas, and I had to buy a reading copy too.
Also got Terry Pratchett's Interesting Times, Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time and another copy of Anne McCaffrey's Crystal Line.

Collecting books is a bit of a hobby for me, especially McCaffrey. I have numerous editions of some of her books, including what is starting to be a very nice collection of 1st edition hardcovers

i got vouchers for angus & robertson for xmas too! best present for someone like me.. i like to have all the books i read, but its getting hard to accommodate them all.. i got a bookcase for xmas too. with my vouchers i bought the following in two trips:

the ballroom on magnolia street - sharon owens (read, was good)
cloud atlas - david mitchell (yet to read)
the lovely bones - alice sebold (one of the best things i have ever read)
water for elephants - sara gruen (yet to read)
circle of flight - john marsden (not as good as expected, but i still devoured it quickly)
the picture of dorian gray - oscar wilde (yet to read)
emma - jane austen (currently reading for eng)

also a few months back i picked up some books at a local school fete:

wuthering heights - emily bronte (started, perfect timing as studying revenge tragedy in ext eng)
a buddhist dharma book
a collection of john steinbeck short stories
a collection of medieval verse and prose
a "modern" history book circa 1927.. complete with happy birthday 1934 message inside.. i love the idea of owning a history book with a history of its own.
