I do law at a pretty crap uni in brisbane.
To somewhat answer your question, I would have to say, other than what someone else previously mentioned, that is yes some law schools do probably have areas of specialty etc, every law course is basically exactly the same regardless of the institution.
You have to remember that law courses have to be approved by the state's supreme court or something like that, thus they all have to meet the same certain requirement, thus they basically all follow the same structure and so on.
Furthermore, If you can get over the whole prestige crap you'll be better off. The simple fact is, I doesn't really matter where you go, what will determine your success more so (depending on where you want to end up, namely corporate or commercial top tier firms) marks matter more. Studying law is crap also. I would have a good think about it, it's a shit and competitive environment, and in deciding, i would encourage you to read a piece by Duncan Kennedy called 'Law school as training for heirarchy'. type his name into wikipedia and you can download the article from there.
If you do want to do law however. Consider where you want to live, then look at the unis offering law in that city- check each institutions course structure. And particularly look at the electives, because like i said everything - ie contract, torts, property, evidence are the same everywhere.
So...Don't do law, it ruins you. Plus also look at the statistics and research surrounding lawyers and mental health problems.
Do something you enjoy, something that will benifit mankind and man king, like science.
Furthermore studies have shown countries with more law studies than engineering students having slower GDP growth.
