Nah, it's by Cutting Crew.

Tears For Fears - I Know This Much Is True
Spandau Ballet

Jefferson Spaceship - We Built This City
They were called Jefferson Starship, but by that stage were known purely as Starship.

I think there's another 80's music thread somewhere here.

Anyway, some favourites of mine:

Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come On Eileen
Split Endz- Message to my girl
The Church- Unguarded moment
The Police- Walking on the moon
John Parr- St Elmo's Fire (the song you hear in the party scene towards the end of the movie)

this is such a no-contest
Guns n' fuckin' roses
no other 80s bands come close

Motley crue are also good

song-wise:

Guns N' Roses - Welcome to the jungle, it's so easy, nightrain, mr. brownstone, paradise city, sweet child o' mine, rocket queen, my michelle, patience, used to love her, you're crazy (acoustic), one in a million, etc.

Motley Crue - Kickstart My heart, without you, home sweet home, dr. feelgood, smokin' in the boys room, girls, girls girls

bon jovi - livin' on a prayer

queen - under pressure (i think this was an 80s release)

there's a heap of one-hit wonder songs too
