i dont know but as an asian, i find not just the asian clubs/societies but all ethnic groups just discriminatory - i havent bothered to join any of the chinese associations no matter how enticing simply because of it segregatory nature...it makes little sense to join these groups based on race. After all, Australia is a highly inclusive and open society so i figure: why bother?

it also helps when ive been born and raised in sydney - though it may help, to a degree (excuse the pun!), for foreign students

Don't worry, I find it extremely entertaining as well. The ones from the mainland start conversating in the middle of an accounting lecture everytime and the lecturer is like "WTF?!?!" :uhhuh: :p

UTS doesn't have a PhilSoc, but the UTS branch of YFC could easily be mistaken for one. I'm also part of JASS (Japanese Society), but they only just started about a month ago so no news there.
