I hope we win, because I have a feeling this is the last Ashes that well be so heavily favoured to win for a long time. The future will be bleak when Mcgrath and Warney retire. And soon after that most of our batsmen, who are almost all in their mid 30s, will go too.

In any case in 2009 when.. Warne, Mcgrath, Gilchrist, Martyn, Hayden, Langer, Lehmann, Macgill are all gone, the Ashes will be a lot tighter. For now though I predict that we'll win 3-0

i will say

one draw, the rest australia win conviningly, the draw will probably at the scg. as for the next ashes series 2009, that will perhaps be an interesting one, to see who will replace the oldies.

Matty Hayden will stay as an opener, he is vital for aussies for sucess especially for the ashes. clarke i feel is better down the order, becuase often australia struggle of there top three dont have good start for one dayer (hayden, gill and punter) and a three world class batsman. so having martyn and clarke will ensure stability. as for symonds i have feeling is he doesnt perfrom then he will dropped.

for 2009 you have:
possibly ponting (should be)
lee
clarke
katich
cameron white
tait
bracken ?
haddin

i noticed Shane watson's not on ur side, any particular reason??

Personally, he got off on the wrong foot int test matches, falling over on his first delivery(no pun intended)

Is tait the guy Gillespie is backing foir the ashes squad?

yeah watson

he should be in, unless he performs really badly i dont see that happening though. he needs to improve his batting though. tait should be in as well, quick has some bowling ability. thornely may be also be in the team, hodge are also good candidates.

You'd get good odds on a draw at the SCG. It's in England...

I'm guessing Aus 3, England 1.

England haven't the bowlers to put up a fight. Harmison, who is overrated, bowled too short last time, was spanked by our batsmen, and will bowl too short again. They have quality batsmen who might give our quicks a run for their money, but only for the odd session. Expect an entertaining one-day series but with regards to the tests, 3/4-0 to the aussies (it rains a lot there).

Stats tip for tour:

most runs: Ponting.
Most wickets: McGrath
Man of the series: Ricky Ponting.

a few years ago the closest person to that criteria was Shaun Pollock., though not as explosive.
