If I don't need to pay for tax, I could just fill in the "simple form" right?

~41k with 3k of tax paid. But have a large amount of deductions.

Eeek lots of tax to be paid :( But Im probably going to get a tax agent to do it, that way you dont need to pay until early next yr.

gross income $13-14,000ish, paid about $1500 tax, should get at least $1000 back :) unfortunately, just like last yr, it'll go towards paying my debts

I am amazed by the efficiency of ATO. I filled the form online and got the money within 10 days. $ 1790 :D

i use the e-tax stuff and its a little different to last year. i thought all you needed to lodge a tax return was ur group certificate, but at the end it says to complete it i have to write down some shit about an NOA (notice of assessment) that i apparently received. wtf is an noa?? do u get it in the mail or wat

No, that's always been there to verify you. You probably weren't asked last time because it was your first tax return.

It stands for "Notice of Assessment" which is the date that you received confirmation of your lodgement last financial year. This confirmation is a normal a4 piece of paper, with a blue shape of Australia watermarked in the background (that tax logo).

Quoting the date verifies you. As others have pointed out, if you've lost it, it doesn't really matter.

Anyway, I got my tax return within the week ladies and gentlemen. I was so pleased. And I have a hefty amount in my hefty account, but I am so reluctant to buy that long awaited laptop now :(. My account looks too pretty, with its four digit looks.
