How much do you think the specific university (like USyd) matters when job interviewers are choosing who they employ? Do you think that they just look at if the person has the degree needed?

It depends on which industry you want to be employed in and which degree you have. What degree are you doing?

most important are

looks ->work experience->grades-> what uni u went to

put it this way...

if you were fugly, you wont geta job in front of a camera for a journalist/presenting role no matter how good your grades were or which uni u went to.

if you are a law graduate, they probably wont hire you, coz they cant stand to look at your ugly face all day long, when they can hire a hot intern with lessor grades. and also they dont want your fugly face interacting and putting off thier clients.

end of day if you r good looking u will get the best job opportunities.

I agree with DaGizza and not with any of the other shallow self-absorbed bloggers on this thread.

In engineering, your looks have nothing to do with anything. it's about your personality, your reportoire, work experience, what your references have to say about you and maybe your grades.
You university has not much to do with it. no one cares really.

Science is a similar story, although having people skills in not as necessary in research as it is in project management.
