Out of all the years, why did I have to stuff up my MAIN year?

Just flunked (like literally, FLUNKED) my first english assessment task... because apparently, my handwriting's not legible enough to read..........

Horrible way to fail, amiright?

I'm in need of some motivation/pep talks to help me get back on my feet.
Do you guys have any stories of people who made a huge turn around despite stuffing up earlier on?
I was ranked considerably high last year--
and I'll have you know, that it was probably out of pure luck, rofl (I've never been one of those incredibly smart people).
But whatever.
To come PRACTICALLY LAST this year as opposed to prelims................. wtf. That's just too depressing.

Extremely low on self-esteem and stamina for the hsc right now...

Sorry for sounding like a drama queen at the moment... but I'm feeling extremely down.
I don't think I'll be able to concentrate on other stuff, if this negative attitude carries on...

"illegible handwriting" is bullshit for a school assessment.

If that's the case, kids should be taught to write neater or just have them point and tell you what the words are / read it to you.

It's entirely different for a marker during the HSC, though. If you really did fail because of illegible handwriting, I suggest improving. Don't worry, though! It's only 1 assessment. I bet the weighting was pretty low too. You'll be fine.

dw i screwed up my first ext maths assess
59% ftw!
theres still plenty of time to make up for it in terms of ranks, then you can just kill the hsc :)
also another story of unpredictableawesomeness: dropped my palm cards in my first english speech, read through my half speech incredibly fast in less than a minute, finished 1 second under time, still got 14/15
goes to show you can still make it =)

I know a kid who got 32/45 in his Advanced half yearly.

He got an ATAR of 99.85

Keep trying!

You can still turn it around because its only your first assessment, but with English you want to be extra careful about stuffing up again because even if you happen to score a really low HSC exam mark, it is still counted as your compulsory two units.

Don't listen to these guys they are all lying. I knew a guy who flunked his first english assignment . . . and then he died two weeks later. You also will die unless you post this to five oth . . . oh wait I'm getting carried away. I'm sure it will be fine. Just don't rush yourself too much, take that little bit extra time, and your writing should improve.

what the fuck they failed you because your writing was illegible? that's absolute bullshit, they should ask you to read it to them. i can share your problems because my writing is also incredibly difficult to read at times, but in the past when girls at my school have written so badly teachers have gotten them to read their essays to them. you should ask your teacher if you can read it to them (if you can read it, that is).
