well if your like me and never did any of the questions from the text book, then doing past paper quesions is needed. i did almost all the cssa and hsc ones back to 1986. and i did all the recent ind ones.

Doing part papers does help you get used to doing exam style questions, so you have an idea of what to expect in the exam.

I tend to start off by doing them untimed, and with my notes in front of me, so that I can look up stuff I don't know, and get used to the style of question. Once I'm used to it, I start doing it timed, so that I can get practice at doing them under that sort of pressure.

3 months approx before my trial (although i could only answer about 80% of them as we hadnt finished the cours yet).

After my trials however i probably only did 1 or 2.

I burned myself out so i couldnt be bothered doing anything after the trials. but luckily i put enough effort before HSC to save me
