You go to bed too late, you may not feel the effects now, but after a long period of following this timetable you will begin to feel constantly tired, youll feel sick and be unable to concentrate which will impact your ability to learn new imformation at school and old information whilst revising. You may feel that cutting back some of the time will make you underprepared but if you actually get enough sleep your body will be healthier and your study will be more effective. The prelim course is meant to be a practice for the hsc year, if youve pulled this through most of the prelim youll burn up quickly in the hsc year. The aim of a study timetable is to find a balance that allows you to study whilst also doing the things you need to maintain a health state such as physical excerise and human contactmarcquelle said:i'll post it but it's not that good

[/FONT]This is what i have been doing the things in red and vitally important to me, so don't skip em.
What i do is say: ok i need to read this book for english so i will say for half the day give or take ,read the book/play, then i'll say ok need to do some maths and jap i'll do an hour each of those, then i'll just do some catch-up/revision of my notes then i do what i wish. so it's a time table, but a relaxed one, i can't do say: at 7:30 i'll do this for an hour then swap over the maths. It doesn't work like that just creates stress, heaps of people in my year do that and create confusion for themselves, so i do what i want to do for however long i do as long as i do a minium of 4 hours a day (just to ensure that i study enough). 4 hours per subject so 32 hours a weekstudy or a minimum of 28 hours (equivalent to 4 hours a night), then at least 3 hoursrevision on my notes & reviewing what i have done a week, then i have 2 hours essay practice a week and 45 minutes of creative writing in a test environment and then doing 1 test a week from a past hsc. So ido about 37hrs and 45 minutes a week studying.
I do 4 hours for each subject a week in total (which equates to 2 hours per unit [exlucding ext which is equal to 2U worth of work])
I study by:
-syllabus notes
-practice essays
-practice exams (cause i can for english and then prelim)[soon to be HSC tests]
-huge ass posters that have mind maps
-record notes and listen to them
-have things blu-taked to roof above my bed
-flash cards
-teaching others the subject when they don't understand
-homework & assignments
-revison guide questions
it was at first but my timetable is not strict in regards to 30 minutes of maths, 1 hour of geography etc. I just states do 4 hours a day of study (except on weekends where I follow my school time table to ensure that i study proprerly)
hope this helps
Marcquelle has gone into great depth previously as to why he doesn't sleep as much as an ordinary individual.axlenatore said:You go to bed too late, you may not feel the effects now, but after a long period of following this timetable you will begin to feel constantly tired, youll feel sick and be unable to concentrate which will impact your ability to learn new imformation at school and old information whilst revising. I'll leave it to him to elaborate.
LOL ... ahh yes that Internet Ban... I tried it and failed miserably... one of the few disadvantages of having 3 computers in your house... I'll try it again next termDoctor Jolly said:For me it will be: implementing the internet ban (again) and probably do the regular 5 hours of study a night and go to less football matches (hence dropping my Sydney Swans membership for a year )
Holy cow. What are you doing with 3 computers in your house?! I only have 1 and 3 laptops (thank god they're not connected to the internet though) for a family of 5!the-derivative said:LOL ... ahh yes that Internet Ban... LOL - I'm the only one who actually uses my computer in my house - so it's a big distraction. Maybe that'll be next for me... getting rid of my computers.Doctor Jolly said:Holy cow. Fair enough, i understand the presurres of insomnia as a girl in my role call has it, and i see the affects of it on her, both in not been able to get to school till before 11 am as she only gets to sleep in the early hours with the help of pills, as well as on retreat she was unable to get to bed till way after everyone elsemarcquelle said:i have an irregular sleep pattern due the syndrome called INSOMNIA, this is due to my BASAL METABOLIC RATE and HYPOTHALAMUS (not communicating the desire to sleep appropriatly) work at slightly differing paces, causing a out of sync sleep cycle, this has been a life long situation, and i have adapted to this surviving on mainly (when lucky) three hours a sleep a night, i have sought medical help, and before you suggest sleeping tablets etc. they do not work properly and have side effects and cannot be taken in conjunction with my other medication (and i have to have this medication).
This is why i can have an extended study timetable that goes deep into the night.

Been there, done that, got the shirt, gave it to charity.the-derivative said:LOL ... ahh yes that Internet Ban... I tried it and failed miserably...
You know, I reckon that you do more work and study than someone who is aiming for like 99.5+.marcquelle said:thank you sonya

i cannot change my body, and this is the same pattern of study that i followed last year, so i am again used to it.
and i have explained in early posts why atm there is no part that says "socialising" or "exercise", if you read early posts you would have found out that A) work hours have changed and disrupted time with friends and B) on fridays i go to the gym and study whilst on the treadmill and spin cycle.
Implement an internet ban, as I do.dior1 said:the internet is my bigegst weakness.
I'll come on just to check something and stay on for 30 minutes, 1 hour, 1.5 hrs +

Easier said than done.Doctor Jolly said:Implement an internet ban, as I do.
Ohh! That is nasty! I think you should move it. It will be very beneficialdior1 said:Easier said than done.
But I will try it. It's hard when there is a computer sitting on your desk. Might have to find an alternate spot for it.

Internet ban is never a good choice... I actually have a new laptop that i will use to type my notes and who knows, the internet can be very benificial if you use it rightly. So no an internet ban will not work and you do need some refreshments from studying... You see people always think that they are determined enough to stay without sme of their leisures, but the truth of the matter is that you will just burn out much quicker and pretty much give up.Doctor Jolly said:For me it will be: implementing the internet ban (again) and probably do the regular 5 hours of study a night and go to less football matches (hence dropping my Sydney Swans membership for a year )
Yeah, it's more about studying effectively rather than studying more.the-derivative said:LOL
So do I - my cousin got 99+, and I'm pretty sure he didn't study as much as you did - and he wasn't really smart as well - we all said he got it by working hard, but I think you work harder than he did.
