students protesting will do a lot more than the one on the weekend. If someone gets injured then, big deal it was expected. if some 12yo dislocates his shoulder, story after story of police using excessive force. Some of you pieces of shit talk a lot, but what difference would it make to the world if you didn't exist?

For someone who goes to Ruse, you sure are stupid. (though speaking english seems to be difficult for that school so I'll give you points on forming a paragraph.)

The media aren't going to prioritise stories about kids getting hurt, it'll be going after the protest organisers and then a major moral panic on keeping kids in school.

Geez, so naive.

That's not exactly true. I mean, it's a partnership type thing. No-one would have given a crap about global warming and what not if the environmentalist movement hadn't have given it time. Granted, Al Gore's movie had a lot more to do with it than any protest movement, but the movements still played their part. Same can be said about opposition to the Iraq war, Aboriginal intervention blah blah blah blah. They might not make a huge difference, but they do make at least a little bit of difference. I think that wanting to create change, no matter how you go about it, is pretty darn admirable.
Oh my God, he just narrated the fucking thing, he didn't have much to do with the creation at all. Environmentalist my ass. Biggest bandwagon jumper around.

In reference to this, there might be some scrap of good intentions behind this [doubt it] but it always ends up with kids getting off school just to skip it, not to really protest.

He does realise he's not living in the US, right?
The senate can block supply of funds to the treasury, after which the Governor General can sack the PM.

Edit: But apart from this being extremely unusual anyway, the liberal party controls the senate.

Because he's Bu$HITLER
That doesn;t really answer the question, why is he Bu$HITLER?
Doesn't look to me like he's too hell bent on exterminating jews.
And as far as I know Hitler didn't start wars for oil...

So much misdirected anger.
How many of the kids at these marches give a crap about politics and how many just want a day off school and/or a chance to riot?

Ok, that's cool. That had very little to do with my point though, assy mc ass ass.

In response to what Schroedinger was talking about before, at the very least, a dead socialist (which we all hope won't come to be) would kinda turn public opinion against the massive police force used against protestors. I'd say the public would hold governments accountable for a Kent-state style massacre, which I daresay a few of the socialists wouldn't at all mind.

Kinda sad really.

Actually one of Hitler's key reasons for the campaigns in Africa and southern Russia was to get access to oil reserves in Arabia and the Caucasus.

I doubt anyone in a NSW High School knows anything about Dependency Theory.
I doubt you know much outside of the pamphlets you read as well.

Put simply, protests nowdays don't mean jack, because the social underground which underpinned previous successful campaigns doesn't exist anymore. Its just a shadow of its former self, nothing more than an empty march or external show of 'unity'.

If you want to do anything, you're going to have to lobby the government, or initiate some sort of official change, the time for anarchaic revolution has lost its meaning for us anyway.

Chomsky writes about children being thrown overboard?

PS: I have NFI who Chomsky is.
Chomsky is both a MIT professor in linguistics and a social activist, his main work as an activist being his critiques of U.S Foreign Policy, I believe hes the most quoted academic alive today (don't quote me on that cause i can't be bothered to check that right now) and has written many many books. Just search 'Chomsky' at youtube and you will find hundreds of video's of him giving lectures or doing interviews if you want to find out more about him, no place better than straight from the horses mouth.

Yeah, you must be right, since i'm not studying Political Science.
So what? You sound pretty clueless on other things you've claimed to be an 'industry expert' on, you'll excuse me for not acknowledging your prowess in.

Or should we revisit telling people to use a contrast/brightness filter instead of an inbuilt transparency/opacity setting in Photoshop discussion we had?

(lawl, I have studied and read extensively in politics, sociology, philosophy, anthropology, cultural studies, and communication theory. DEMS BE FIGHTING WORDS)

People say that we complain all the time about the government but never do anything to fight it. However the world today is in a better state than it has ever been before. The poor people are less poor than they used to be and the quality of living has jumped. People don't protest because they believe in something, they are protesting because some exciting day is coming up and they want to feel special. Protesting has only worked in Vietnam and that was because we were in a bad situation anyway. Ever since then people think they will actually make a difference.
