Does anyone know if it is possible to access files shared by students on the uni network, from outside of the residences? A 'friend' of mine would basically like know know how he could get his hands on movies shared on the network

The uni network isn't supposed to be used to share porn.

There are ways to access flame and your account's 'U' drive from home, but I'm not sure about what you're talking about. You're better off just getting someone to burn it onto a dvd/cd's for you.

there is a firewall, you "cannot" access our network. there is a program that was written to do it but it only works for macs sorry

you can access our network from most uni computers just use
\\computername

uni fixed up the network a fair bit this yr, made it harder to access college pcs, and anyways most of the college pc's with the large amounts of shared material are smart enough to block all local ip's apart from the college IP range so as to not get caught. but i'm sure theres lots of stuff u could still find.
