our coming assessment task is a research about globalisation on a country other than Australia..
the research worth 5%.. and then we will hv a in-class essay which is 15%!!!
I chose China and i hv already finished the research part..
in the research, i talked about:


1. Economic growth
(% growth rates in recent years)

2. Living standards
(Poverty, inequalities in income distribution, education levels, HDI index)

3. Trade
Changes in trade flows (increases in exports & imports), amounts, types, borrowings, deregulation, exchange rates.

4. Investment & Financial flows
(FDI levels & changes, amounts, types, borrowings, deregulation, exchange rates)

5. Changes to Government policy
(To allow, facilitate, encourage the process of globalization)

6. Environment
(Impacts of globalization (mostly negative)), pollution, use of resources

is there anything else i hv to talk about?
did i miss anything particular?
or wht can i add to make it better?

and im just not sure,
in every points, do we need to define the term?
like.. what "economic growth" refers to.. wht is "FDI"..
and i also did talk a bit about the global financial crisis thing..
i talked about china's 4 trillion plan.. talked about how it affects the exchange rate..
but do i need to also explain the whole global financial crisis?
like.. how it affects commodity price.. export.. therefore these impact on china blablabla ?

my research now has already 10pages..
i really dont know how to modify into an essay form..
if i hv to write all the stuff into the 1hr exam..
every points will be just so brief..
sigh.. IM REALLY SO NERVOUS AND STRESSED...
anyone can help?

1) talk about the CIC (you can go find out what it is)

2) The currency and why and how China manipulate its currecy
-what are the problems that arise from it?

3) You could disucss China's foreign policy in relation to trade and how it affects china in the global context (e.g China is trading with poor African country...what are they trying to do?)

4) Talk about China's excess workers and its recent new policy in regards to the labour market

5) Take a look at Fiscal and monetary policy if you can

6) Inflation was a big issue but now the global slowdown is even a bigger concern (possible plans and actions?)

7) Dont explain the whole crisis but China is heavily affected, many factories in the peal river delta are starting to shut down (find examples)

8) Global slow down-->China's growth slows-->demand for commodities affected-->link to AUS

9) FInally, make sure you put links in

no need to go into so much detail about the global financial crisis. just give a brief outline as to what it is, and how it affects china's economy.

generally, ANY economics essay looks at GOVERNMENT POLICY! my globn essay last year was 'discuss how govt economic DEVELOPMENT policies in response to globn have impacted on an economy other than china'.

so you need to talk about what kinds of policies the chinese govt put into place from e.g. 1950s to 1980s... ie socio-economic zones (and there was something else which i forgot). and how these policies allowed globalisation to take place with the chinese economy, and what its impact was on the chinese economy.

as you can see, govt policy is a bit outdated, but you need to give recent statistics like HDI (2004 or 2006 is most recent i think), and throw in a page or thereabouts of contemporary issues like teh global financial crisis. thats what i would do. what does anyone else think?

no unfort she did china. its a 23 page case study.. all the info u cud ever need except the latest stats ofcourse.
