I got the offer for Macquarie Law a few weeks ago- early enter under the GLEP program (which is all about extra curricular activities and shows up on your transcript). Currently topping three language based subjects at my school but not by a whole lot, I've been sent in with I think 5 band 6s (one is E4 technically) and one band 5 for chemistry. I'm expecting above 95 based on what I've been told etc. but nowhere near the 99.5 to get into Sydney.

At macq, I'd be combining Law with Science- picking units to specialise in medicinal chemistry things. However, if I'm going for a career in pharmaceutical law (preferably as an in house lawyer), is going to USYD instead of Macq really going to make ALL the difference? At USYD they have a degree specifically for medicinal chemistry as well so that is one factor but I suppose by picking units (which I get to do earlier at macq because of early entry) I can still be the same level of qualified.

I've always excelled at extra curricular/ leadership based things (very into social justice, debating, global issues) but would having the Global Leadership Program on my transcript put me up there with the USYD graduates for corporate law? I know I'm capable of sustaining interest/ maintaining focus and achieving my best in either law degree, however if I go into Medicinal Chemistry at USYD I fear I won't be able to get the distinction average required to transfer into Law. I'm not very good at maths as well which is probably worth considering in terms of maintaining a D average in science.

Basically, I can accept both offers (and then pick one afterwards- they're in different rounds) but what would you do if you were in my shoes, given the prestige of a USYD law degree (if that's still very relevant)?

Take the Macquarie offer, it better suits what you want to do in the future. I went to USYD and studied it due to its prestige among other reasons. I am transferring next year to go to Macquarie.

I also got the GLEP offer a few weeks ago and accepted it, as although I am hoping for an ATAR over 95, I know for a fact I will not get 99+ so I do not want to waste the opportunity. Only problem is, Macquarie is so far...
