isn't that the same as 2unit and 3unit
All questions from 2 unit are basically do-able. I never had a question in 2 unit level where I could find decent question that troubled to the extent where I just went "fuck this".

But 3 unit is a different story.

Lol funny thing is it's impossible for someone to be ranked late 20's based solely on that assessment as there's only a 2 mark difference between the top. So even if he did kill his trials he probably majorly stuffed another assessment.

Here is a thing:

there was a guy called Laurie Fields. He was part of the Maths Olympiad and he represented Australia. He was a genius mathematician and he was basically the top in his awesome team. So it's not an understatement that he was one of the top in Australia in that age group at that time. Probably everyone was expecting him to get state ranks - at least top 10. I am pretty sure everyone was expecting him to come first but he didn't get any state rank in maths.

He pulled off great results though. So what does that really say? You never know. I think luck comes in to this area.
Laurie Field got 4th place in MX2.

99 in 3U, probably silly mistakes got the better of him.

I can give testament to the possibility of careless errors wreaking havoc with your exam marks. I made 9 marks worth of careless errors. 9!
It will be the difference between 99 and like 94/95
. I usually thrive under exam conditions, but I guess the HSC must be different somehow.
I'm sure state rankers are also susceptible to careless errors in the same conditions, so I think that no matter how good you are at maths, you can always slip up. It's difficult to slip up as much as I did though
:p

My bad. But he didn't get a state-rank in 3 unit matematics.

115/120 in Ext 2 will get you a State ranking IMO. Congrats on the great results they are awesome.

He might get one for MX1 but I am not sure about MX2 because it's unlikely that 9th person from JRAGH will get a state-rank. If he was top 5, it is possible.

Unlikely, that test was straightforward, there will be plenty of 100%s. (refering to state ranking in MX1)

and im pretty sure midi was being sarcastic.

Thats true.

Although internal ranks and external ranks are not always the same, and he may have outperformed some people who were ranked above him internally

lol no I wanst.

Im pretty sure that only losing 1 mark in 3unit will get a state ranking. I highly doubt 10 people got 100%
