We have a boys captain and vice captain and a girls captain and vice captain, al from yr 12, as well as 1 captain for each house, from yr 12, and 1 or 2 vice captains for each house from yr 11. In my experience captains don't do much or have any say

yr 12s- anyone that wants to do it
yr 11s- max 8
yr 10s- max 6
year 9s- max 4
year 8s-max 4
year 7s-max 4

we tried to get a boy to represent each year group, but it was mainly all girls

the workload was fairly evenly distributed...but a LOT of members never turned up or did anything...but among us that did, it was fairly even
however, i was not a captain or anything, but i worked my butt off, more than anyone else..

EDIT: oh and, elections take place in term 3...so the year 7's get time to adjust to 'big school' before they go on the SRC, and so as the yr 12s dont have to worry about the SRC interferring with exams and stuff (we graduate the second last day of term 3)

the src executives (the ones who run it) are from year 11 they include 4 positions
president, vice president, secretary and treasurer
and then each roll call class has an src representative

Exec Committee:
2 Captains
2 Vice Capts
2 Principals Representatives
2 Multicultural Representatives
2 International Representatives/Stage 5 Liason Officers
4 Stage 4 Liason Officers
(usually 7 male, 7 female)

And the extra SRC:
5 from each grade, at least 2 male and 2 female

The Sports Exec is a different area, but that's Sports Captains, Vice Captains, House Captains

They all get chosen in June of each year so the Exec can focus on their HSC

We simply dont have one.
All that work goes to the 'School Leaders' who are a group of ten elected yr12's that do the role of sport capt. prefect etc and are lead by the School capt's (which i am one)

The captain, vice captain and the prefects simply organises everything on paper and let the lower years run out and make it work :).

From each grade we have about 4 representitives, they tend to do most of the dirty work.

The heads of the SRC (captains/prefects) are usually the ones that take care of area meetings and visits, but we tend not to unless we have too :D.

I have the biggest school in the state of students doing the HSC.
The school has 1100 students over all, half in yr 11, half in yr 12. (Only 2 years).
I walk around in year 11 and do not know who is in what year, its crazy. The student number is so big that for school assemblies we have to sit outside on concrete all cramped up in the blistering sun, or the freezing cold rain.
The hall is only big enough for one year.

Badges are given out for anything at our school...
Boy and girl captain
Boy and girl vice captain
1 Student liason person
4 house captains
about 60 Tutor Group Representatives, from both yr 11 and yr 12
