some questions (1 Viewer)

I have been doing a lot of reviews lately, and i reached trigonometric ratios. In there i am stumped at a few -
1. (sec^2thetha-1) tan(90º-thetha)
2. cos u + 2/3 (u is not in first quadrant)
simplify cos u - 2 cot u / tan u - 3 sin u

I am completely stuck on them (they are all to do with trigonometric identities)

one. $\left (\sec ^{2}\Theta -1 \right )\tan \left (90-\Theta \right)=\tan ^{2}\Theta \times \cot \Theta =\tan ^{2}\Theta \times \frac{1}{\tan \Theta }=\tan \Theta$

this doesn't seem to make sense...

what does the cos u + 2/3 have to do with the bottom bit? do you mean cos u = 2/3? or cos u + 2/3 = 0? or something else?

one more question, do you mean...
$\frac{\cos u-2\cot u}{\tan u-3\sin u}$
or...
$\cos u - \frac{2\cot u}{\tan u}-3\sin u$

haha that's okay =]].

being male you probably wouldn't appreciate it, but [as i went to a girls' school] i was taught to remember trig identities [except sin + cos = 1] by...

a man plus a tan is sexy. for 1 + tan = sec

a man plus a coat is cosy. for 1 + cot = cosec

with all the squares and thetas and stuff.

but it really does help to have rhymes or acronyms or something that you can recall easily.
