there are a few mistakes with terry lee's solns that i found...

like the graph question, the part between -3 and 3 shouldn't cut the asymptote y=x

and in the complex no. question, the extremities of the diameter of the circle, at (1,1) and (1, -1) should be excluded with 'little circles'...

ah well

I'm impressed he has soolutions up already.

Made me find some stupid mistakes, yet at the same time confirm some things..

(Eg getting the probability right, that was good :D)

And me, i dont wanna look at them. It might wreck my enjoyment between the end of the HSC and the time we get our results back. ie. i probably failed but i dont wanna see that its certain i did.

I can't see the solutions on the page...can someone post them up?

Btw. do you lose marks for transcription errors in the HSC? For thw partial fractions, I accidentally wrote "3x" instead of "5x" and so of course I got "a" and "b" wrong as well as (ii)...

Yeah I'm happy now, I'm pretty sure my mark is between 82/120 and 77/120 now maybe take a few for silly mistakes i don't rember making :). Cheers to Terry Lee for the sollutions.

nope you dont unless you made the question significantly easier in which case you didnt

Ok, that's cool :)
I was kind of wondering why I ended up with fractions for a and b, but I didn't go back and check until I came home and realised.

yes it does.

y = x + (8x)/(x^2 - 9)

sub in x = 0, no problem. curves can cut the asymptote - it only tends towards the asympotote when x tends towards infinity

Is Terry Lee's region for Q2(c) correct? I forgot to make y=1 a dotted line...I wonder if I'll be penalised.

Rench: you'll be penalised. Also note there should be open circles where the line cuts the circle.

Lee's graph of the curve is also incorrect. The curve cuts the asymptote y=x only once, at (0,0), as opposed to thrice as his diagram suggests.
