I work as a receptionist at a Doctor's surgery and I do the billing and close their batches - translation: i add up the amount they make and send and recieve it via Medicare. We have 4 doctors there, and on average they make about $1200 a day - and they don't specialise in anything. GP's are paid per patient, and it's usually $33.15 per patient plus an additional 15.60 for those under 16 and those over 55. Saturday's (after 1pm) and Sunday's the average is raised to $48.60. Don't forget to also factor in Worker's Compensation and Veteran's affairs patients. We have one doctor there who does not see many patients at all (he's a jerk) and the lowest he has ever been paid is $860 for a full day.
All in all, I would say that doctors are paid pretty well. Although the hours are pretty crap. Hope that helped some.
