8 days to the HSC

I am not getting enough sleep. SHould I get enough sleep or study because I don't want to regret not using this time later .....

How tired are you now, how many hours of sleep do you usually need, and what happens when you usually try to stay up late studying (if you ever have)?

You can surely get enough sleep and still study plenty.

Say you sleep 9 hours (which is heaps) leaving 15 hours of the day left.

Take out 3-4 hours for eating, toiletries, etc. and you have 11-12 hours left.

That time could be used for study, which is plenty.

What is your study routine at the moment?

+1, people always say there isnt enough time to do things, but there is as long as you dont procrastinate

If you manage your time properly you should have more than enough time to sleep (which is very important).

Hm. "I am not getting enough sleep" implies that you are tired. That'll affect the efficiency of your studies. If you're not used to staying up late, I suggest not to do it. Lack of sleep deteriorates your ability to concentrate - so you may get some good hours done now, but that'll affect you later on today, and tomorrow.

Sleep as you normally do, wake up, study and take breaks.

I know there are only 8 days left, but try not to scare yourself as much as you can. It's 8 days until the first english exam. There's more than 8 days until your others. You can do a lot in 8 days without too much procrastination, trust me.

Thanks guys, I am not stressed, like I am prepared for my exams. It is just that I don't care about my health atm because I would have 4 months to chill and relax.

Anyways, I get sleep of around 5 hours, and I think I can still concentrate :S

PS: All I do is maths, so background music and tea every hour helps me stay up all night

Oh okay. Still try to get the normal amount of sleep, because there are still a few weeks until HSC is over, and you don't want to crash and burn in between/before then. You're body may be able to cope with the late nights/lack of sleep now, but that might not be the case later.

If you have to choose between getting enough sleep vs study, go with sleep. You are already on top of most of your work, and sacrificing sleep to cram some more is actually not as effective as you wish it was; your body NEEDS rest (particularly in this time of high stress) and your brain NEEDS time to process all the new information you're jamming it with. In more cases than I care to count I have gone to bed not truly understanding some maths problem, but the next day I can suddenly understand it and complete it no problems.

Of greatest concern: if you cram without the sleep you need, you won't remember a lot of it on the day of the exam because your body and brain is impaired with lethargy. If you don't believe me, google it!
