Poker meat at Manning sometime, people? Will need a few hours to finish the thing, so I'm thinking 4pm-5pm start, $10 to play and we go until it's all over.

Doesn't have to be this week.

On a side note, Townie, Chris, Ashton and Ruby are awesome, and I would like to drink lots of alcohols with them this semester.
Seconded, on all counts, tho i am teh crap at teh poker

Sold all my textbooks ($140 all up). Bought a textbook for $30 (as opposed to $116 at the coop. It's a pissy little book, too). Getting another one for $60 next Friday. So that's $50 in my pocket. :D

Fuck you Cityrail.
In all honesty I've never seen an incident so poorly handled as the body on the tracks at Chatswood. First day of Uni I'm up at 7am, after three months of noon sleepins.
The 7:40 bus rolls past my house at 7:37 so I now have to catch the 7:45 City service. I get on bus with a shitload of businessmen/women with their phones ringing every quarter of a second. Oh what's that? A body was found on the train tracks so now there'll be no trains for over an hour? No problem, we'll just hire 18 buses to cover for that many trains. NEWSFLASH CITYRAIL: Trains hold more passengers than buses, take note of it.
So now with the train's down everyone becomes a genius and catches the City express bus, which is now overflowing so I'm standing up for a supposed 40 minute busride. Oh wait, turns out everyone knows about the body on the tracks...SO THEY'RE DRIVING TO WORK. Smart move dipshits, let's just create more traffic for the leftover public transport.
Finally get to Town Hall at 9:50. That's right, it took me over two hours to get from St Ives to Town Hall, and I've now missed my first lecture. Get on the first bus I see and end up 10 minutes late for my second lecture.

Philosophy was good though

That was an evil experience there Bazookajoe. So if everything worked out, would you have arrived at uni. on time or earlier?

Sometimes there are annoying public transport problems and the only thing I can do is try to get there half an hour earlier.

Yeah, I turned up at the station at 7:50 and the concourse from the station to the bus stop was absolutely packed. Luckily we were only waiting around for about 10 minutes before they announced that the trains would be re-running. The train wasn't as packed as I thought it was, though. But there were all these people on the roads and for some reason everyone jammed up at Central and all buses stopping at Railway Square drove away full  maybe it's just one of those congested days (plus the fact that the North Shore line trains were stopped)

That was a terrible class.
Everyone around me was talking way too loud for me to hear what the hell he was saying.

Man...I hope the dead guy feels really sorry for inconviniencing you n such.

Man, the USyd lecturers are so much more alive than those at UNSW. The education lady made us sing, the chemistry lecturer didn't speak in a monotone and the politics lecturer...well, she seemed like a bitch but it was still pretty interesting. So much easier to get to, a lot nicer, people are more helpful, I actually went to a university knowing people instead of having to get to know people (makes for an easier first day). USyd rocks...so far. Except those socialist extremists. Boo.

Speaking of that, I can't understand half of what my maths lecturer says. I had to ask the person next to me if she was saying 'pond', even though it made no sense, it sounded like that, and she was all :| 'no idea!'. The person in front of me worked it out though, she was all 'I think she's saying point'.

In addition to jb_nc's question, where are the best places on Campus and off-campus to have a snack/luch/dinner?
Where do you all go?

Re: Semester I 2007 - Chatter Thread!

I'm loving USyd so far. College O-Week was bloody stressful and full on, but I feel like I'm making friends and settling in. Also, my room looks bloody fantastic. The lectures and one spanish tute I went to were great and the lecturers and tutor were fantastic. I've also realised how bloody good I am at navigating with a map.
