By the way help a total maths retard out - how do you work out how much you need to get in an exam to pass the subject?

By the way help a total maths retard out - how do you work out how much you need to get in an exam to pass the subject?

Um say you have two assessments: 1 test worth 50% and an project worth 50%. You got 75% in the project.

You go:

50x + 50(0.75) = 50

Then just use algebra to work it out.

Formula:

Σxy = 50/65/75/85 where x is the percentage of what the assessment is worth and where y is the score you got as a fraction (i.e. [0<=y<=1])

or in words..

A = (assessment 1 mark out of 100 x weighting as a fraction of 1) + (assessment 2 mark out of 100 x weighting as a fraction of 1) + ... etc

Then

what you need in final = 100*(50 - A)/(final exam weighting out of 100)

I've calculated I need to get >20% in Thursday's exam to pass the course, so this is looking good. This is assuming I got 0 for the one project I haven't gotten marks back for, which obviously is not realistic, so I actually need less than 20% to pass. But how much less I don't want to guess. That's a comforting thought at least, that I don't need much more to pass the course.

I would talk to them like that for a joke. That guy was in HR. Chances are they were around the same age. Hell, I used to make gay jokes to my old boss all the time.
