something that shits me is im a paying member of the src yet i am yet to receive any correspondance from them at all informing me of events or how to get involved etc.. you think those that are financial contributers would be treated with a bit of respect or something..

I was on the executive and the council of the SRC last year and am yet to receive anything this year. In fact I didn't receive meeting notifications all of last year either, and was listed on their site as Simon Justin the whole time.

Will be at Snowball, post below if you want to be my free +1.

yeah i am doing it. there's hardly anything about men in this subject. it's more about culture and consumerism. although it's tinged anti-consumerist, it still accommodates pro-consumerist standpoints. granted, there's only been one lecture, but it's good thus far. and the assessments are easy (e.g. 60% 5,000 word case study on anything consumer related)

Can you give me a brief outline of what we'll cover over the semester?

2) Meanings of Consuming (essentially about consumption + emotion)
3) Shopping and frocks (we watch a docco about bankstown: something to do with gender and consumption)
4) Taste and tastes (cross-cultural taste, and actual food tastes)
5) Consuming classes (how classes consume differently)
6) Ethnographies and focus groups (methodology of how we could approach case study, i think)
7) Feeling cool
8) Feeling glocal (globalisation)
9) Body shopping the world (cosmetic surgery, etc.)
10) Trolley shop: the glocalisation of supermarkets
11) Buying backlash (anti-globalisation, food politics)
12) Localism (another backlash)
13) We watch mondovino
