QUESTION:

In your related text do you have to link it back to simple gift
or can you just talk about the related text and just do a conclusion that state the links..?

I prepared an essay but adapted it quite well I think.

The module specifies the four aspects of belonging are 'acceptance, relationships, identity and understanding' which means it was easy to mould it around and argue/agree that although understanding was an aspect, the others are needed to define belonging.
Yeah this is what I did too. I also added understanding of personal context and self- reflection/ individual chooses to belong. I said that the second part of the rubric wasn't necessarily true because not belonging may be a choice based on understanding of above as well. Good for Dickinson :)

Hey guys, umm you know how the rubric wants a VARIETY OF TEXTS. I did not specify what form my texts are. My prescribed was heat and dust - a novel and my related was The Knife by Judah waten - a short story. Will i get anal raped as i am scared the marker will think i done two novels. Do they check this shit up?

Fair point. I had to bs for about a page and a half.
how?

even if pple have prepared essays, cant they just only talk about 1 text and leave the other out? Its not that hard to leave something out...

I had no probs with anything...the question fitted my texts perfectly.

Yes but then my essay would've been a grand total of 4 pages.

I chose two, as well as one related text. I see that some people did four of his poems :S
Not sure aye. All I know is that my analysis of the poems were really detailed haha.
How many did you do?

I liked it. I suck at Adv English and surprised so many people thought it said 2 texts...when it said 1 lol. Wrote a grand total of 7 pages, took me 1 hr which took 20 mins out of creative writing time.

I adapted my megathesis to suit the whole understanding thing and basically stated that an understanding of one's identity is first required to belong and make connections with others to enrich your life.

Or something like that.

YAY ITS OVER!

How did you address the essay question?

I interpreted it as follows:

- the 'understanding' that nourishes the sense of belonging can be achieved through family ties and kin relationships.

- the 'lack of understanding' that prevents belonging can be expressed through the lack of trust between the family ties created.

Arg I'm not sure if this is how it's supposed to be answered or w/e

Input guys?

Marked down

can you get marked down for writing 7 pages of a good essay, then a page of not so good stuff, but a good conclusion?

i.e. are you better off leaving the less sophisticated stuff out?

Re: How did you address the essay question?

i did it as:

understanding can be see to be made up of two components.

the sense of personal understanding (basically self-identity)

the sense of social understanding (connections with others)

then just answered that bad boy.

Re: How did you address the essay question?

er

a lack of understanding results in a lacking sense of belonging

went on to describe how this relates to my prescribed text
