what is needed for a proper screen design, my teacher only mention that numbers are placed by xxxx.xxx and the need to have a key at the buttom of the screen design which show where each link goes to, are there anything which in particular that the marker would look for in a screen design, thanks

also what are logic gates, seen it been brought up alot of times here on the forums though never heard it at school

Consistent and intuitively placed screen elements, good use of white space, font colour, size, and style.

Logic gates are part of the option "Software Developer's View of Hardware", if you are not doing this option at your school don't worry about it.

i mean more in the area of actually drawing a screen design as to what to look for, not so much about the font colour, size and style which focuses more in the actual program designed

not sure what option we're doing yet so just have to wait and see

thanks for the help

basics for good screen design constantcy ie exit button in the bottom right hand corner of the screen on all modules of the program, using an easy to read font for example Visual Basic's default.
But I think what you are actually referring to is story boards which show you the connection between each module of the program and not so much the actual design of the screen on each module. For example a basic design of the screen is used but not a detailed view of how it will appear in Visual Basic or in the actual program that you are to use for your programming.

i meant to say actual design of a screen as to what do i need to show, example would be for a field to show numbers you use xxxxx.xx to represent them and something like that, so far looking at my notes i only know that for screen design you have to show key at the bottom where each button will lead to, not really talking about the theory of what a screen design should have for it to be user friendly

There's things you need to be clear, a screen design and a storyboard is two different things, screen designs throughout development actually evolve, they become really shabby initially however they turn out to be better throughout the project, so you should show how your initial screen design was, state the facts about it, the advantages and disadvantages of it, then in your next screen designs you do the same with updated image and also what changes have been made from previous one and why it was done.
