Hey, Im in year 12 HSC this year :)

i just paid $6.00 for a science competition today..
last day of entry 8th may 2009

and i just wanted to know what type of questions are in it...
I've never done a science competition before, as you may of guessed,
and it's not a competition of our school
im pretty sure its one of those tests which the whole state as an opportunity to do.

So yea just wanted to know from people who might of attempted it previously of the question style of the test
such as :
difficulty level , syllabus related questions??
general knowledge... or really tough research ones.

It's a general science skills test. It tests you on how well you read data, etc.
Don't worry about it. It's the EASIEST competition ever.

hmm... ok..
so generally you don't need to do any pre- study before the competition.

It's basically all in the written comprehension of the test where you get your answers from?

i was hoping to know if it would be helpful to study certain topics before doing it...

Well, it is helpful to have basic knowledge of concepts in physics and chemistry.
You are SUPPOSED to be able to logically deduce the answer from what's given to you, but it makes your life easier if you know basic concepts.

I think you can buy past competition papers from those mini Asian bookshops that sell educational books. Maybe you can purchase one and check it out?

Unless its Olympiad, all the science competitions are easy as hell - you don't need to study for them at all.
