Honestly I couldn't care less about customers complaining when I have closed my register since my shift is over. They usually say something a long the lines of, "what about all those customers lining up".

If I've finished my shift I close up, and I don't serve anyone else, screw them
haha

the express registers here are... i'll draw a pic, i haven't seen them like this at another big w

and once i was on 1 or 2 or 3, and there was only i think 1 person, maybe 2, on 4 or 5 or 6, and there was a big line

i finished, and they put the moveable divider thingy in front of 1,2,3 so the cattle could only form one line to go to 4, 5 or 6

and the trick with this is to keep ur head down while ur counting ur drawer, if u look up they'll think ur looking for ppl to serve, and if anyone can't work out what the divider thingy is for, u just say "it's just the other side sry"

but on this particular occasion since it was busy and they had to form only one line, the ppl were like "this is a JOKE!" >=[

lol

fuck i hate when people patronise me. I dont care if your granddaughter is the head prefect at some shitty school down the road; dont look at me with pity that im working at a supermarket, like im some yr 10 dropout and have been doing manual labour since then...
i would like to tell them to go fuck themselves, as they could never hope to afford sending their stupid kids to my school... and that i will get a uai thats at least 20points higher than their kids could ever hope to get

I hate it when this happens...and i really hate it when it falls down, crashes onto ur hand, and before u can pick it up to put it back it scans a billion times
rofl I reckon!

And also I have a problem when customers like to hold onto their items instead of placing it onto the belt. Because most of the time, the next person's stuff gets to me first.. and then the current customer is like "NO WAIT", then places their items on my scanner.. and because they don't let their hand go straight away it usually ends up scanning at least 2-3 times before they let go.

And also... I have been very very surprised by the amount of people who don't seem to understand the concept of the belt.. and how there's a detector at my end which detects an object and the belt stops moving..

I have had shitloads of people who put like their wallet/helmet/groceries in front of them.. say, 30-40cm away from the detectors.. when it is about their turn, I swipe my hand over the detector to get the belt moving.. and what does the customer do? They pick it up and move it back towards them.. and because the belt hasn't stopped automatically by now.. they keep moving it back and back again [whilst the next customer's groceries are getting closer].. and I'm just standing there looking at them baffled.. like *wtf are you doing?* And I just tell them.. "The belt will stop moving if you stop touching your items"

most annoying shit ever. haha i don't need the fucking condescending looks. dont say 'was it a long day?' (doesn't happen that often now i don't usually work weekdays but still). i was at school, fuckwit. yes, im in year 12. i do have a brain. and just because i mixed up the code and scanned your onion as sweet potato it doesn't mean i fail at life. SO DON'T LOOK AT ME AS IF IT DOES, OKAY?

as you may be able to tell, i just finished work

Cust:"been a long day?"
Me:"nah, only got here at 5, but I had TAFE today..."
C:"ahhh what are you studying?"
M:"Acting, I'm doing a Theatre course..."
C:"Ohhh how interesting *You're-gonna-be-here-for-the-rest-of-your-life-look*"
M:*thinking* God I hope these casks are expired ones I missed in the $6600 dumps...

@Captain Gh3y: lol at our one it's only 3 express registers so 1,2,3 on your pic. I look up anyway while I'm counting just so they know I know there are customers waiting, hopefully to piss them off since I'm not serving them and there is a HUGE line. :)

When we tell a customer something: its usually for there own good, and they should listen. Let me tell u wat happened to a customer today when i was serving on express.

This lady came up, and she was one of those real bitchy ladies: When i asked her how she was today she didnt say anything, when i asked her if she had FB's she didnt answer and then when i was accepting her cash she pulls her FB's out and tells me to scan it, she was just over all one of those stupid ass customers. Anwho, she bought a fair few 3L milks (dunno if they were 3 L, there are the biggest milks u can get...just so uno which ones im talking about) and i scanned and bagged them. Now in express, we have these small shitty little bags, and they could hold 2 of these milks, but i put each milk in its own bag so they wouldnt break, because if i had put more then one in a bag they would have broken. Anywho, the lady has a go at me, saying i should put 2 in one bag, and i told her that it would break, and she replied by saying i didnt know shit and that it wouldnt break so i said alright wateva lady.

So i take out the milks, and put repack the bags so there are 2 per bag, and i finished of the transaction. Meanwhile my supervisor called me and told me to put my sign up so i could close off. So i go get some trolleys and lock them in the register lane and all that shit u do when u close up, and wat happens to the lady when she tries to lift the bags...they all break, and all the milks spill everywhere. She looks at me and tells me to go get her some milk and to bag them properly, and then i replied by saying "listen lady, i told u they would break but u didnt listen, its ur fault they broke and i just finished my shift so i dont have to do shit".

She proceeded by having a sook and winge and then asked the supervisor for a refund, which the supervior denied because she had already purchased the milks and saw the whole incident (me advising her to let me bag them so they would break). Anyway she started yelling and throwing a tantrum, and one of my bogan regular customer who was waiting in the other express lane shouted out to her "get outa her u stupid bitch".

Anyway, thats wat happened and i felt like sharing.

i wish shit like this would happen to more customers so that they can realise the consequences of their "i know everything" attitude.

i find it fustrating when I'm working in apparel and customers come upto me and ask me questions about products in areas which I have NEVER worked in. why don't they just walk upto that certain section and locate an associate who can actually help them out?

customer: hello, can you please show me where they sell photo albums?
me using a smart tone: sure! they're in the uh...........photo lab. there should be someone in there who can assist you

here i was, thinking a decent employee should know not just his specialised department, but the others as well. how mistaken. not only that, the customer should fully expect a patronising response as the only fair outcome to their idiotic question.
