RTA Ps test in Blacktown (1 Viewer)

I am taking my P1 test in Blacktown next week. I had a driving lesson there today and it was definitely more challenging then when I did it last time at Castle Hill. I only failed for going 45 in a school zone last time at Castle Hill.

I really need my license this time round though so does anyone have any tips, the possible testing routes and also what the examiners are like? I know each is different but are some of some pretty relaxed about things or are they constantly watching you and looking at everything you do. Also does anybody know what the traffic is like around 3:45 to 4:30 as my test is around then.

We drove to the registery, then up st martins crescent, left onto bungarribee rd, accross the flushcombe rd round-a-bout, right onto balmoral st, left onto kildare rd, right onto lancaster st & lyton st upto McColoch rd where we did a reverse parallel park, then down to clarence st and left onto irelands rd where we did a 3-point-turn. Then going in the opposite direction to what we came up until lyton st, turned left to go to richmond road and turned right onto richmond rd, turned left onto third ave and then right onto sunnyholt rd and then straignt to newton rd, left onto flushcombe rd and back to the registry, but this was all a practice.

My driving instructor told me most of his learners fail at the flushcombe road round-a-bout and also turning onto richmond road as there is no lane marking from lyton st onto richmond rd.

I know if that had of been my test I would of failed though. I was going often too fast for the traffic and also sometimes to slow, and I hated the amount of traffic there, I am going to practice there for a good few hours on the weekend to get use to the conditions and also a feel for the area as I live in Castle Hill not the Blacktown area, however my instructor told me that they also may test in Lalor Park. I don't have him until Monday before the day of my test which is when we were going to Lalor Park but I wanted to practice there this weekend too.

I need to be used to the traffic and know the roads I may be tested on by Tuesday, if I don't pass this time I have to wait until next year which is when the next bookings are available. I really want to and need to pass this, otherwise I will be annoyed with myself.

Castle Hill looked easier but it may be due to I know the area better. As I said I only failed 1 item which was speeding in a school zone.

So basically my questions are does the above route match or is it similar to one of the testing routes? What are some streets/routes you were tested on and also any other routes I could be given. Also what are some of the manouvers you got?

Thanks for this, relatively similar to mine. What do you think of the round-a-bout at Flushcombe Road, did you have to take more care than you usually would or did you treat it as normal. My instructor said that a lot of people fail there. Did you do your test in manual and also what maneuvers did you have to do?

I didnt have any driving lessons so i pretty much went through it over and over again at the busiest times to make sure i could do it during the test. Make sure you look over your left shoulder when you indicate left on the way out of the roundabout, its stupid but its a rule. I did it in auto and did a kerb side stop and 3 pt turn. Make sure you study the guide to the driving test book as if you were studying for a test.

What the heck. Why would you need to look left on the way out of a roundabout? No one is ever going to be on your left.

Someone could be trying to turn right from the left lane, its pretty stupid, but thats what it says in the guide to the driving test.

Thanks for the tip. Didnt do it at Castle Hill, but will do it at Blacktown. Just wished I had noticed the dam school zone last time and I would be driving by myself now. When I was at Blacktown today with my driving instructo, you definitely have to be more aware of your surroundings. Just really need to pass before Christmas, also sick of having to pay for all this shit. Do you know what the examiners are like at Blacktown, was he strict on you or relatively relaxed? Also need to know the Lalor Park route. This is what sucks about doing it somewhere your not used to, you have to go and get used to it all.

It's not stupid. You can have roundabouts which merge from two lanes to one lane and also many drivers cross over lane lines because they are too lazy to maneuvre their car properly (I take the same roundabout every day and pretty much everyday I find myself flashing my high beam once for less than a quarter of a second to let a driver know they cross over the line). Another thing is that a car may be turning from that lane and not exiting at the same exit as you. You must check your blindspot to the left and indicate left when leaving a multi-laned roundabout. Its a law and prevents accidents.

A better driver would make sure that when they enter the roundabout, they buffer so that they aren't in someone else's blindspot. However not every driver is a good driver, so you must check your blindspot when exiting.

The examiner that i had was really nice and chill, but i guess it just depends on luck on who you get.

Well guys, thanks for your participation in the thread and for the help you gave. I am happy to say I passed the test on tuesday. I didnt end up going to flushcombe road roundabout or anything like that, just around lalor park and seven hills then back to the registry. Had a worse score than when I did it at castle hill by like 8 points but I didnt do anything that is an immediate fail so I passed. Was happy. Just thought I would let everyone know the result.
