Roughly what outa 120 will give me 75+ scaled

Just wondering, based on last years results and some guessametrics, what sort of score out of 120 in 2U maths will give me a scaled mark of 75 to 78...?

Well, 90/120 raw would give you 75 but the rest depends on ur school, ur ranking... a very rough guess would be 82-87 maybe? not sure tho.

I thought that with q9 & q10 being reasonably hard, the test mark of around 70/120 would scale up over 75... your thoughts

since most people will lose 3 marks on the exponential question (since its a 3u-style question)

and since about 50 trillion people did not get the 3 marker for the n-months in loan repayment.. as well as the test being a bit longer and 'tricky' than usual

i predict that band 6 cut-off this year will be 92/120. 75-78 should be about 66-69/120. 2001 was an extremely, extremely easy HSC and the band 6 cut off was 97/120.

why would BoS scale a mathematics mark of 92/120 (77%) to a 90%????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

this could be why nsw students are generally smarter than other states (not my rumour)

It's all ranks, if 92/120 -->90%+ that means this is what the top achievers, or top band of students, got in the exam.

Band 6 is not the top 10% of students. There's no preset number of students who make a particular band. The band you are placed in depends entirely on how well you meet the performance descriptors for the course, as in assessment tasks.

Is the Band 6's on the Board Of Studies Honour Roll a combination of assessment and your hsc exam mark?

Yes. It's your HSC mark, which is the average of your moderated assessment mark and your aligned exam mark.

75% raw (90/120) would prob be a high band 5
doubt that will get you a band 6 though

I rekcon(though I am not an experienced scaling person or wateva) that somefin like 75-85 will give you a 75+. I also think that somefin like 90/120, raw will end up giving you around 82. Hey can anyone tell me wat these sort of marks will get scaled up to. (Note: These marks indicate a range of marks so different people can know wat they can expect with de raw mark)

>40/120
>50?120
>60/120
>70/120
>80/120
>90/120
>100/120
>110/120
>115/120

whoever answers dis query is a real legend>>>>>

100+/120 is pretty much guaranteed band 6 imo

WOOWOOWOWO!!! im lost here....

I was always under the impression that BAND 6 automatically meant that you got 90%-100% and band 5 is 80% to 90% and so on... isint that the case??

Can someone pls explain how this scaling works in detail pls?

Like lets say i get a raw mark higher than my internal asses mark ... do i get scaled up or down n if so by how much? does it depends on the school's rank?
