You've got some very impressive results there yourself.

i pulled my average (WAM) from 67 to 68.5. The aim was to just hold a credit average by uni's end, but a goal of a D average might spur me on.

Re: Results and Predictions (Sem 1 '08)

Gosh Looking Glass, I'd be so annoyed! I've had two 64's and four 74's throughout the last four semesters and I thought that was bad! And congrats to Anonymous1 and ssglain for those mind bogglingly fantastic marks! lol I've only ever gained one HD in my degree and it was a subject everyone else sucked at.

MATHS RESULTS ARE OUT!
I've got everything now. Finally.

CHEM1903 Chemistry 1A (SSP) 87 High Distinction
INFO1903 Informatics (Adv) 91 High Distinction
MATH1902 Linear Algebra (Adv) 85 High Distinction
MATH1906 Differential Calculus/Mathematics (SSP) A 97 High Distinction
SCTP1831 Science Talented Student Project 92 High Distinction
SMTP1000 Communicating Effectively In Teams Satisfactory Completion

Average = 90.0

LOL I'm happier about MATH1902 than I am for 1906. I honestly - honestly -thought Molev had killed me. Oh such relief.

@ Anonymous1: I agree completely about both BIOL1903 and MBLG1901. I have almost completely lost faith in the various schools of biological/health sciences. But I've heard from friends who've done MBLG say it's much much better. I hope they're right.
Fark!!!

So is their a special trick to working out your WAM, or is it simply averaging out your marks? Do junior units contribute to your WAM?

Is that all the WAM is, your avergae mark so far? Or is it something more than that?

To nick1689 that's all it is if all your subjects are worth the same number of credit points (which they should be). And it depends how long your degree is--if it's more than three years junior units won't count. See the transfers forum for more info esp if you want GPA calculation as well and check out the WAM calculators on the USYD website (just search for it).

The science faculty uses this:
http://www.science.usyd.edu.au/cstudent/ug/wam.shtml

which basically is ∑ (Wc x Mc)/ ∑Wc
Wc=credit points * level of unit (2 for 2000 level subjects, 3 for 3000 level subjects etc)
Mc=marks out of 100

And there are heaps of special rules too (e.g. in the school of IT, to get into honours you have to have a credit average for your 3000 level subjects but only need to have an overall WAM of 60). I'm not sure how some other faculties do it though.

My wam is 68.13, Cr average so far!

So for calculating the whole WAM for the year, do you just get the averages of WAMS of the semesters?

lol. why not just get the overall average rather than calculating individual semester WAMs then averaging them?
