Hey guys,
Just wondering if your allowed to use a related material that is also a focus for other schools. For example, for imaginative journeys our school has got the tempest as its core text. For my related material i want to use alice in wonderland (so that ones fine) and this lime tree bower my prison, but that ones done as a focus for some other schols. Am i allowed to do that or do i need to use a text not studied as a focus in other schools?
Im thinking im not allowed but i thought i'd just check cause I'd like to use that poem. :D
Cheers

You should check with your teacher because they will be the ones marking. Our teacher told us that you're not allowed to use prescribed texts as related material but I think he meant other prescribed texts in the same module. So if you use King's speech in journey's, it should be fine... Whereas say "rabbit-proof fence" would not be allowed as a related material for journeys.

Hmm, but this lime tree bower is from the journeys module (I'm stuying it in imaginative journeys) I had this same problem where I wanted to use 1984 as a related text for telling the truth, and I was told not to for in school assessments and strongly advised against it for the HSC..

Well my teacher had no objections for me using it in my trials, but I will probably use something else for my actual hsc exam to be on the safe side.

you are allowed to use a prescribed text from a different module in the HSC, HOWEVER it is not looked well upon. you've had a year to find something different after all, using a prescribed text doesn't say volumes for independant research does it?
