Your statement is inherently redundant if you give specific ethnic/national parameters to who can seek work but mean that anyone can work any job in this country, regardless of their nationality or ethnicity. Unless what you meant by migrants is that they are citizens of this country, but were not born here and are therefore still "australians" in "australian jobs" (what does this even mean?), you're bandying the same type of nonsense as: "white jobs for white workers".
No, you're misinterpreting me. This whole thread is about refugees migrants and 'un' Australian. I'm saying that migrants, whether residents or citizens, are just as Australian as those who were born in Australia and have every right to work. The nature of the this thread is so, that is creates the distinction between migrants and Australians, through the explicit use of 'migrant' and 'un-Australian'. I am correcting this falsity.

So do you think the Roy Hill Agreement should have the specific mentioning of "x amount of workers must be Australian" or not?

No, but I think we should offer tax breaks for companies who keep jobs onshore.

I do feel my sense of entitlement threatened by the prospect of migrant labour eroding the high degree of protection afforded to all industries within the Australian economy.

I mean if we didn't have cartels like the AMA, engineers Australia, unions etc, there are a lot of cheaper migrant workers who could do the highly professional job you have spent years qualifying for at university.

yeah but without these things, you wouldn't necessarily need that degree either

don't have to wait 3+ years to start working because you're probably a better communicator than migrant workers (assuming)

People are free to come here legally, but not illegally onto our shores as it is a financial burden to hard working Australians and also a threat to our national security.
this might be a bit of a shock to you, but sometimes there are more important things in life than the "financial burden of hard-working Australians" which in reality, isnt that much at all..

Mind if I throw in a point here. Rinehart's only bringing in these migrant workers because she can get unskilled labour for less money with them than with Australians. The issue here has nothing to do with 'stopping the boats' or any other kind of bigotry (and that includes the kind that labels any view opposing its own as 'racism'). The issue here is that a woman who has made a monolithic sum of money from our country by and large tax free (in proportional terms) is now playing God with both government and the unions - overrunning all their objections because she has more weight to throw around.
If you want to get upset about something get upset about the fact that very soon our media is likely to be under resource industry control, and Rinehart has made no secret the reason she wants to take out so massive a stake in fairfax is to advance her own business interests by manipulating the media.

Also, Australians are more deserving from their government and business leaders than the rest of the world. On the fundamental principle of national fealty. You put your country first in recompense for everything you are blessed with by being born in so great a country.

The only think I am upset about is that people seriously believe what you just wrote

"Rhinehart wants to lower the costs of her business and is therefore evil"

"Rhinehart wants to stop her property from being stolen and is therefore evil"

"Rhinehart wants to use her own money and own property for her own reasons and is therefore evil"

"I like to suck off nationalism because I'm a moron without a brain and therefore I'm good"

How can any business leader who seeks to work within the Australian environment be considered 'blessed? When has the federal government ever 'blessed' anyone trying to run a business, subject to laws and regulations which only stifle business growth, innovation and employment?

Sure being born in Australia is better than being born in many other nations - but that's akin to celebrating contracting herpes because it's a 'great blessing' compared to contracting HIV.

Why are Australians workers more deserving of employment, when they deliver less value for money? In any other business transaction, you would say the person who gives the best service at the best price, is the most deserving of payment. The notion that Australian workers should be able to work less hard, and receive higher pay, simply because they were born here, is a fine example of unearned entitlement.

No one is denying Australian workers employment, they have an advantage for local employment simply by proximity, Rinehart would always prefer to employ Australians in her Australian operations if possible, simply for the cheaper travel, accommodation, and legal costs - they simply have to lower the prices they are willing to accept for their labor to be competitive. You talk about fundamental principles, what about the fundamental moral principle of helping the poor and disadvantaged - which we can potentially do by employing migrant workers, who in many cases lack the unearned advantages of those born in Australia.
