Hey people,

I don't know if any of you use a mac but I am using one and have encountered a massive and weird problem. Well, anyway, this is my problem: when I insert a legitimate DVD the drive makes a strange noise and then rejects the disc. This does not happen with burnt DVD's or CD's but only with legitimate DVD's. I have one of those new iMac's and have already attempted to use the Disk Utility.

This forum is my last resort before I ring up tech support so please if anyone could help I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks,
Blue View

How new is it?

I'd say just take it back and get a new one if it's still within a few weeks of purchase. Apple Centres usually replace all that on the spot for you.

That way you avoid recurring issues.

If it's older, definitely ring straight away and get support issues recorded while still under warranty!

Have you set your DVD Region setting?

It sounds to me like the drive is rejecting the legit DVD because it has regional code enabled.

I don't have a mac so I wont be able to help you how to set up your DVD Regional Setting.

Good idea- it should be in the DVD Playing Program's settings somewhere.

Thanks for your suggestions guys but I have rang up an Apple repair place and they said that it sounds like a hardware problem so I have to get the drive replaced!

The problem is you're using a mac.. It's easily fixed though. Just sell it and build yourself a PC.

Have you people actually used Macs?

Is this all about OSX?

Does anyone really believe Windows is better than OSX?
