What sought of raw marks would one need to get a band 6 in chem? Furthermore, what raw mark would they need to get a mid band 6 (94-95)?

I'll take a wild guess and say high 80s for a low band 6, and a mid 90s to get 95......?

It varies greatly from test to test.
But I know that your rank has to be first in every 10 people if you want 90, and first in every 100 people if you want 99

is it possible to get a band 5 off kind of.... 70/100?

my brother got 80/100 when he did his chem exam (1999) and got a band 6.

I think 80 raw aligns to 90 for chem.
You'd be looking at low 70s (72-73-74) to get a low band 5.

Yeah it changes each year of course (scaling). Funnily enough, the 2003 paper didn't seem that hard.

Sounds alright.
If you have Einstein's UAI calculator, you'd see that it's around the percentile rank for those marks. Just compare it to results to your school.
