it depends on wat maths u do
if General then yeah 90,95
if 2unit then around 80+
3unit is around 70
and 4unit all u need is above 40,50%
That's generally the range I would stick to when estimating a raw mark for a band 6 cutoff in 2 unit maths.watatank said:i thought it was somewhere around 90-95/120
The raw marks go through alignment, where the examiners will set a mark cutoff for certain bands in the HSC exams, depending on how they feel the mark is representative of the student's level of achievement of the syllabus outcomes. Usually the raw mark needed to attain a Band 6, 5, 4 etc. is smaller than the percentile rank of a band 6, 5, 4 etc. so you won't necessarily have to get 90% raw in the HSC exam to get an aligned HSC mark of 90, i.e. a band 6.misericordia said:sorry i'm another idiot...
does this apply in other subjects? i thought that 90% in hsc exam=band 6 in hsc exam....(very confused)
are you frkn serious? that cant be right. im thinking that its gotta be at least 95-100. cuz alot of people in my school got 100+ outta 120 in the trial and i got 117. and 2u maths isnt that hard for the cutoff to be that low.eppingMCE said:Lol u dont need 90% for a 90% mark u idiot

then you've got a strong cohort and you're headed for some band 6's then.the-1-n-only-me said:are you frkn serious? that cant be right. im thinking that its gotta be at least 95-100. cuz alot of people in my school got 100+ outta 120 in the trial and i got 117. and 2u maths isnt that hard for the cutoff to be that low.
just my 2 cents.
I'd say that was a fairly generous estimate....you'd probably want a raw of around 100/120 to get a band 6 imothe-1-n-only-me said:are you frkn serious? that cant be right. im thinking that its gotta be at least 95-100. cuz alot of people in my school got 100+ outta 120 in the trial and i got 117. and 2u maths isnt that hard for the cutoff to be that low.

Wow u got a bloody smart cohort wat school u go to?the-1-n-only-me said:are you frkn serious? that cant be right. im thinking that its gotta be at least 95-100. cuz alot of people in my school got 100+ outta 120 in the trial and i got 117. and 2u maths isnt that hard for the cutoff to be that low.

you dont need a raw mark or 100/120 for 4unit in the HSC no one has ever gotten a raw mark of 120 ever ever. I would say around 90/120 would pretty much guarantee you a band 6.morganforrest said:I'd say that was a fairly generous estimate....you'd probably want a raw of around 100/120 to get a band 6 imo
In 2 Unit there has:clockwise said:you dont need a raw mark or 100/120 for 4unit in the HSC no one has ever gotten a raw mark of 120 ever ever. I would say around 90/120 would pretty much guarantee you a band 6.

Probably one of the people who get the first significant figures/decimal question one right with the wrong rounding and then place a pen in there nose followed by a hard slam on the desk. What would the raw marks be for a band 4, i really just want 70+, i have heard from a few people that you would generally need a passing mark 60/120+, is that true?King2 said:Who on Earth got 1/120 :S
