Band 6? 85-95

i'm estimating tho
what if u get 82.5 "the exempt band" lol... but close... u wont need much more than 85 for a band 6.. 2 unit is scaled nicely

well scaling is around to be 5% so i guess in order for ya to get yourselfs into a band 6, u need to get 103/120

Yeah, I'd say band 6 would be over 100 definitely, its only 2 unit, they dont want to be giving out too many band sixes for the second most basic maths course

cool thanks a lot for the quick replies :)
Im aiming for a scaled mark of 75 so i'd be aiming for a 65-70/120?
this is probably my weakest subject (i find it harder than physics or chem!) lol..

Aligning and scaling are two different things, for a band 6, you would need about 94/120, which gets aligned, then scaled giving about a 90 HSC mark

um 73/120 (60.8%) in 2003 scaled or aligned or whatever to an 82%
last year a 111/120 would have placed you in top20 of state
100/120 is well into band 6

wasn't the 2003 paper the one where students were outraged at the difficulty?
I was going through that before and the difficulty became close to B.S. after question 5 or so...

that was 4unit.... i think 2unit was HARDER aswell, but still rpetty basic. It was just the last Q that the 2unit kids couldnt do probs. The 3unit kids were fine.

depends how you see the world. 2unit is the 3rd HARDEST maths course. ;)

there is a big different between 2unit and general. It does get scaled more than you think, also because the test is actually pretty difficualt (for a 2unit student) and there has been ppl that have got their raw marks which have got band 6 with raw marks such as 94 etc.

100/120 is well into band 6

Actualy according to what ReNcH believes he got in last yrs paper (raw) it seems that to have obtained a state ranking u needed about 116-117/120

ReNcH estimated his mark to be about 115-116/120... and he ended up with 98%(aligned), however he didnt get a state ranking!

although 111/120 would've probably been about 95-96% aligned!

As for a band 5, a rough estimate would be 75/120, however it could go as low as 70/120... no one can really know at this stage!

band 6 would prolly be 94+/120 as mentioned earlier!
