Hi, everyone i was just wondering if someone could please help me with these maths questions ive been trying to do them for ages.

1. 10x squared - 13x + 4 = 0

2. 2a squared = 11a - 5

3. 6x squared = x + 3 ( 2 decimal places)

4. (2x + 1) squared = (x + 3) squared

5. x ( x - 5) = x - 9

6. 5x squared - 4x - 3 = 0

put in form ax2 + bx + c = 0 where a, b, c are constants

you may have to expand and simplify a bit

then apply quadratic formula

x = { [ -b +- rt(b2-4ac)] / 2a }

this expansion thing might also help you

(a+b)2 = a2 + 2ab + b2

Unfortunatly this is the sort of shit i loose marks for too. I mean, they are simple questions but there ones that i continualy get wrong. Wether it is the fact that i rush them because they seem simple or the fact that i slept from 7-10 and find myself in year 12 lacking the basics.....

Anyway, stick to the rules (FOIL), (square the first, square the last, twice the product first and last).....

Yr 12 maths is not all that hard...It builds from the basics learnt in 7-10 and the key is repetition. Maths is all about set rules, answers that are answers....english for example is all about tricking the markers into thinking your smarter then you are. Even go back to the earlier years and re-learn factorising, quadratics etc....it pays off
