I'm confused as to why they use 9 instead of 8, this is a mistake right? Or am I being dumb. Otherwise an easy question

yeah probably just a mistake

More likely that the answer is correct and the question is wrong... y = 8 leads to a messier answer, they probably meant it to be y = 9.

This cannot be a 3u question, more like a 2u question

I dont think 2 unit does area using the y axis, but yeah it is a very kind question, other then the mistake.
