i'd say guy, a girl is pretty vulnerable and the thought of rejection is pretty bad but dealing with it is worse!
however, guys just to avoid feeling rejection also make sure the girl is into you just a little bit, and if she isnt then dont get all obsessive, it doesnt make us have a good opinion of you and won't boost your chances in the future!
