i was in his yr 6 class...feel bad as shit cause i picked on him...fuck secuirty guards...they should do a speeding ad but for seccers..."nobody thinks big of you"...

POLICE will today interview key witnesses to the death of Sydney pub evictee David Barbour - 24 hours after a patron claimed the teenager was choked by bouncers.
David Barbour was found lying unconscious just metres from the Castle Hill Tavern's Tav Nightclub about 10.30pm on Saturday – just minutes after being ejected by security staff.
According to a police spokeswoman, detectives said more witnesses had come forward overnight, after another patron, who identified himself as Sam, yesterday claimed on radio that the 19-year-old was allegedly punched in the face and placed in choke-hold after being frog-marched from the venue by two bouncers.
"A number of witnesses have come forward overnight and further statements will be taken today," the spokeswoman said.
The break-through comes after Mr Barbour's mother, Kerrie, questioned why her son was ejected from the hotel.
Mrs Barbour told The Daily Telegraph her son had been in the wrong place at the wrong time, and that her son was "not a drunken lout".
Yesterday, an alleged witness to the incident claimed he saw Mr Barbour being frog-marched from the venue before one man punched him in the face and another applied a choke hold from behind.
Police were talking to staff of radio station 2UE in a bid to contact the witness, who told the station his name was Sam.
"They marched him outside, they took him around the corner in the dark, round the side," Sam told the radio station.
"One took a bit of a poke at him, either punched him in the nose or, you know, just jabbed him . . . while he was watching the other fellow, the other bloke circled around behind and got him in a choker headlock."
Mr Barbour was found minutes later by tavern staff, who performed CPR until ambulance officers arrived.
Paramedics tried to revive the teenager at the scene but he was declared dead on arrival at The Hills Private Hospital.
Police said Mr Barbour had been asked to leave the tavern because he was standing near the female toilets – but not causing trouble.
He complied but managed to re-enter, at which point he was ejected and there was "some minor altercation".
Police said he had consumed a small number of drinks, including light beers at home.
His mother Kerrie told The Daily Telegraph yesterday that her son had been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"He really didn't go out that much," she said.
"He was a very quiet boy. He'd never even been there (Tavern's Tav nightclub) before. He was supposed to be going out with a friend but that didn't happen but he really felt like going out so he went."
Detectives have interviewed two security staff who were "present or nearby" at the time David collapsed. Police also seized CCTV footage from the tavern.

bouncers and security guards at establishments such as the one mentioned are - by and large - sleazy thuggish scumbags looking for a fight. i can honestly say i have met probably one good natured bouncer ever. how many more people will have to die at the hands of these lowlives before something is done?

I wonder, are there any laws or guidelines dictating what bouncers can and cannot do?

yes, bouncers are only meant to apply enough force to detain someone if it is even necessary, they are not allowed to do anything more. Bouncers always cross the line, and most of the time I doubt they even get in shit unless the club comes under scrutiny.

a guy in my tafe class was one and he admitted and bragged about how seckers take people where the camera cant see them...and most people are too drunk to remember anyway...

but seckers need more training...they have like one day and they gain a certificate...they dont know how to deal with problems

hardly light or offbeat news.
It's light in the sense that it's not a point from which we can start a political debate.

I'm sure we could be in uproar about the law enforcement's inability to chase bouncers who assault people. Beyond reasonable force is against the law. :x

Thats sad
:( . The bouncers in my area are usually pretty good. Ive never seen them do anything overly violent, and they are pretty good at kicking out anyone who is intoxicated or looks like they might be causing trouble. Its not always fair, but it keeps the place safe. These guys cop alot of shit, they face people acting like dickheads every day, liers, drunks, violent people. Its a job where you are expected to put your ass on the line[sort of like the police i guess] and rarely get thanked for it. Ive seen some real dickheads and some people who like to throw their weight around, but good reputable businesses know that shitheads will ruin their reputation so these people dont last long.

Regular customers usually have a good say in this, ive seen a new bouncer fired just for refusing entry to a group of regulars.

So i guess my point is that while there are some dickheads out there, most of them are just regular people trying to keep you safe by doing a thankless job.

I'd agree to that. As always, a minority is making the majority look bad.
