Hi guys,

I'm trying to choose my subjects for this semester but i'm a bit confused.

My aim is to get into the honours program, but i'm not sure which stats subjects i'm required to do (i'm doing a BA-Psych by the way)

I know PSY332 (principles of psychological assessment) and PSY331 (design and stats 3) are required.

The part i'm confused about is the second year subject PSY232 (Research Methods in Psychology) which was changed to PSY240 and PSY241.

Am i required to do these two subjects if i want to get into honours? I don't want to do them if i don't have to, because i'm absolutely shocking when it comes to statistics.

Can someone who's recently gotten into honours let me know what to do?
I've gotten mixed feedback from other people in my course so i have no clue.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I just checked and PSY240 and PSY241 aren't even on the timetable. I got this info from the psych website, maybe its not up to date? Arghh!

Here's the link to the psychology honours requirements at Mac. There's a list of compulsory subjects there that you'll need to have done to get into honours.

So they've changed those two subjects to PSY340.
It says you need a minimum GPA of 2.5 to do that subject.
Is there any flexibility there?

Doubt it, its fairly competitive, btw 2.5 is in between a credit and a pass, so its not THAT hard

*embarrassed*
i know that its between a pass and a credit but i don't have that.
i've only started really studying my a** off the past year, my 3rd year GPA is 3.7's but my overall is in between 2 and 2.5
if i can just get a decent mark in the two more subjects i have to do, then my overall will be 2.5 and i can get into honours...

so there is no way that i can do that subject?

You could always contact someone in the Psych department :)

And good luck with raising the GPA! I was in a similar position regarding that for my degree, ended up sneaking in by some miniscule amount rofl.

Yea i think i'll do that.
Thanks for the support! haha

Another quick question, if they say there is no way for me to do the subject, would transferring to another uni work? (after i complete my 68 credit points)

I was planning on doing that anyway, since i finish mid year and mac doesn't have mid year entries into honours. I'm thinking of applying somewhere far far away from Sydney.

You'd have to contact that university I gather :)
