You could just rip the dvd versions yourself and play them from your memory card.

Though, you do bring up an interesting point, will places like Video Easy provide UMDs for hire? I don't think they will. They didn't really adopt Video Discs. I guess it all depends on whether Sony decides to incorporate the media into more of its products (like they are rumoured to with the PS3).

From memory, yes the PSP can play divX/Xvid encoded movies, but they have to be at a certain resolution. Chances are you'll have to re-encode the files. There are plenty of intructions on the internet on how to do this for the PSP.

Hmm im thinking of buying a psp from Japan( a friend is working there). The value pack is about $329 there. Let us know what you think after you;ve played around with it Deus!

Im interested in the hacks, as well as using it as an mp3/movie/game player i really wanna get it functioning as a PDA. They are about to release a keyboard for the psp so im guessing future versions of software will be made available on UMD .

Here are some pics of mine at the Plus! forums

My first impressions of it are very favouable.

The graphics are absolutely stunning (Looks even better than an actual PS2!)

The User Interface is excellent as well. Im yet to play games on it as well they arent avaliable here yet.......

Yes, I heard about the Keyboard. The PSP has alot of potential as a semi-pda type device with word processing etc.....

It can connect to the internet too, it just needs a browser to view webpages.
