Oh shutup you useless lefties. Go out and get a real job instead of participating in mindless protesting that will a) do nothing b) be a waste of time and c) prove all along that you are an idealistic zealot. Wow you must be proud.

They don't hate the companies.. Just the people who own them and have MONEY. They are slimey dole bludging bastards, who are jealous that other people have things that they don't, and much like people from that class, don't expect to have to work for anything, and expect everything to be given to them, ie. by lotteries or government hand outs.

All of this hate for rich people, morphs itself into protests against corporations (because who else, or what else, can the direct their hate at?). They expect everyone to live in misery like them.

A quote from Winston Churchill comes to mind. I must consult the oracle.

"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries. - Winston Churchill"

(even if the people protesting aren't communists (communists and socialists are exactly the same as far as i'm concerned) they are still in favour of them).

The ironic thing is that these people are protesting against large corporations, but it is guaranteed that within 1 day of leaving the protest they will have used at least 5 products from a large corporation. They are just dick heads really.
i reckon you are way off the mark here
one of your problems seems to be the inability to differentiate between communists and socialists. the 'left' seem to be one ig stereotype i your mind.
socialism is not a hatred of people of money; rather of the social inequalities that occur in our late capitalism.
it is not a big for money; the people attending Forbes are not jealous of 'your' money - as they are not rampant capitalists they are voicing their social concerns.

i notice a strong 'us' vs 'them' mentality here which is ridiculous. a game of 'money making' whereby the people here who choose to play are valued members of society. people who don't approve whole-heartedly of the late capitalist approach of the west are 'communists' - and supposedly also dole-bludgers, lazy etc.
there's another assumption that people who are concerned by corporate crimes don't have a job. or at least a 'real' job :p

why is idealism a bad thing? seriously? is it just in vogue to be hyper-critical of valuing ideals over conforming to a social norm?

my view on things anyway

The main problem I have with it is that alot of them are violent... but no one seems to want to own up to it. They tell the police not to come out there in such huge numbers, not to worry about fences and that it's wrong for them to do so...

The police tried their best to keep the protestors from turning violent and to keep any violence from being done to them... they built a fence between them, and they couldn't even accept that.

I say throw those shouting plebeians in gaol, where they belong. They are nothing but petty thugs who do nothing to contribute to society. At least these CEOs have set up companies to give people JOBS and LIVELIHOODS - protestors have served merely to ignite needless angst in a community just going about their daily lives.

i don't think the protestors generally have a violent intent

one or two people will do something silly
and then the police will overreact
then the media hypes it up

These "pacifistic-peace-loving-hippy-anti-war-libertarian-socialists".... want to get to the economic leaders to kill them and to incite great violence and anarchy. How ironic. Not really, i dont' expect much from the left. This isn't even really the left.. Its the dole bludging left. Most of them were the kinds of people that you see wandering around train stations talking to themselves with messy hair and dirty clothes.

What do they hope to achieve by protesting? Do they expect the leaders to give up their millions? I bet if the leaders offered the protestors their trillions of dollars they wouldn't reject it, and if they were in fact given the trillions of dollars in money, they certainly wouldn't be giving it to starving Ethiopians.

They are just doing it because they don't have a job and don't have anything else to do with their time.

I suppose it gives them a sense of power in an otherwise pointless & meaningless life.
Here, here. Finally, a beacon of hope.

But going around the city today harassing people in banks, stalling traffic... they alll looked like they were just having a ball. I don't think many of them are rational people.

That's what alot of people say... but the video disproves this. Alot of the protestors can make their own video's, and i'm sure if there was some huge over-reaction by the police it would leak to some form of the media....

When you have a situation where the police have put a huge fence between themselves and the protestors, then the protestors want it taken away/knocked down... you must wonder if they're really there for anything other than confrontation.

=/ I'm just saying the reason why they're not rational is because although I would find the whole thing fun myself I'd feel bad for all the people who's lives i'm annoying.

The police thing is fairly harmless, but don't go to one of those protests then complain if you get whacked.

The police should've shot them dead. Easy and simple - no one would miss annoying mosquitoes like them.

you know what? you're the kind of idiotic irrational righty that I hate.
You know why I hate you? because you assume that anyone who doesn't share you political beliefs is stupid, and therefore should be shot.
You give the rational righties, such as NTB [who is wrong, but at least has understandable reasons] a bad name.

If you want to be taken seriously, why don't you come up with a worthwhile point, an argument that makes sense, rather then just saying shoot them all, and blindly calling all lefties communists and saying they should be shot.

*cough* *choking sound* The left isn't exactly innocent of this either
The only ones who see the right as having a bad name, are the left. And who cares what they think.
We say stupid things because we assume that is what the left understands as they seem to say stupid things all the time. In fact they say stupid things every time they open their mouth, so we assume that they love to hear stupid things.
I'm not saying there aren't lefties that say similar, stupid things, but I don't, and most of the people here don't.
People like rcandelori make all of you look bad, just as stupid lefties make all lefties look back. If you don't want to care, the fine, dont.
Nor do we say stupid things every time we open out mouths, at least have to common sense to admit that sometimes we do, in fact have rational, reasonable points.

Honestly, you just jump at any opportunity to attack people. I wasn't even aiming that at you. unless rcandelori is just you with another name, created to back you up.

how else are people suppose to draw attention to an issue?
i think they're damned if they do, damned if they don't here
protesting is a way of showing collective support and bringing issues to the attention of a very unaware and complacent general public.

and yeah i'm pretty sure the fence knocked down was an attempt at confrontation - the protestors want to draw attention to the issues (though it prob won't be the attention they want).
Bitch about it all you want. The fact remains these roudy protestors shouting futile blather should be shot.

I am sad I came into this debate so late, but it seems as though it has been hijacked by the extreme right operating under a number of aliases... do National Action have a heep of new recruits? The stereotyping here has been absolutely attrocious and the descriptions of the protestors no less then offensive. There is such a feeling in here that the left is trying to quash hard work... blah blah blah. You guys have no idea... no absolute idea about what it is like to be involved in real politics, politics where if you dont pay your dues, your branch is screwed, politics that at is root is organisised in such a spirit of unity. Im rambling because im insensed at the fact that no one here realises that a whole heep of the protestors are protesting not only some conditions in this country. But the third world, where unfair trade barriers, poor commodity prices, what you people call "the market" not temporarily, but permanently effect "hard workers" from being resilient. Hard work is a myth. You seem to use the word communist here and there like its hurting well its not. If I believe in democratic non-violent demonstration, which it was at the most part, and in social dialogue and these are communist values. I am a communist, I was born a communist and I will die a communist. So much ignorance, so little dialogue, I cant wait to go on my gap year, i need to get away from these bigots.

how can you oppose protesting against the very embodiment of the system which creates a world where the income of the richest 1% (50m people) is the same as the income of the poorest 60% (2.7bn people)
