Do you think it would be necessary to get prelim textbooks for my subjects

Unless your school provides them for you or has copies, I would most definitely recommend that you get prelim textbooks for those subjects (with the possible exception of English as you won't really need a textbook for it). But the others subjects build on the knowledge that you learnt in prelim when you are undertaking them in year 12, especially the maths subjects.

School are supposed to provide you with textbooks...aren't they?
If they don't, I think you should get them, textbooks are really helpful
