Voted. I will however confess that the delay in my voting while partly due to not having internet access was largely because I have trouble choosing from that group... I think there are potential good PMs on the list but I don't know if there are any great ones.
- Rudd: I think he is largely a failure as a PM. Promises and doesn't deliver. Prefers consultation over decision making.
- Abbott: I do have a soft spot for Abbott and indeed an immense respect for him as a person. In many respects I think that he would be a good PM however I am concerned by the religion issue and don't think he is electable.
- Gillard: As much as she was alarmingly leftist in her early career and made a mistake in backing Latham her politics have swung much closer to my side of the spectrum. She has taken a relatively hard line against the unions and has not really broken most of the things which were working in her portfolio. I think she may make a decent PM
when she gets the job. I may have fallen victim to her
Forbidden Allure.
- Hockey: Respect Hockey, especially his moderate stance in the party and I think he is honestly a 'top bloke' (unlike Rudd who gratingly pretends to be). I do wonder how much substance there is to him though, Abbott is a man with convictions, Turnbull has a certain gravitas... Hockey is just a nice guy. Ultimately I think he could be a good PM but I struggle to get past his teddy-bear image.
- Turnbull: I've thought Turnbull would make a good PM since he first entered Parliament. The issues of disunity which are plaguing his leadership now are the problems of opposition not so much of his leadership. He still has a slight image problem but I think would be a far better PM than Rudd. I was tempted by some of the other contenders but I do think Turnbull would be the best of the available candidates.
